Subject: Necrons empire question.

Hey guys,
Just wondering, with the newcrons fluff in mind let's imagine the following scenario (being able or not, is not the question): Necrons have taken over all the galaxy; killed (or joined ?????) every foe they have found; how would necron society be like?
-Would they be a living empire with prospering technology/culture/... ?
-Same as above but trying to make the best of their metal body, and trying to find a way to enchance what is left of their soul?
-Same as first but trying to get back to a flesh-made-body?
-Would they go back to sleep (for X or Y reason)?
-Wouldn't they be able to live in a community anymore and would they stall until they "rot" away (like losing more and more of their soul and as such being nothing more then machines repeating the same task for ever...)
Sub-question: Do you believe, if the opportunity arises, that necrons could "join" or "let join" other races? As ofcourse both race agree to live side by side, like tau for example?
-Would it be as a lawful-good act?
-Would it be as a lawful-evil act?

Definitely not like the Tau. The Necrons will and do tolerate other species, except for the ones descended from the Old Ones. They are ash to the Necrons. Everyone else are subjects/slaves. There is no cooperation - you pay tribute and follow the Necrons or die.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.
'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.' |

Depends entirely on which of the Necron Dynasties the xeno race lives near. Living near a wakening Tomb that is under the rulership of a Destroyer Lord will be the doom of your culture, because Destroyer Lords absolutely despise the living.
There's definitely no egalitarianism amongst the Necrons. They're rigidly caste-based, and all of their artists, merchants, commoners, philosophers and basically anyone who wasn't a noble is now a near-mindless automaton. They don't really have the ability to found a society outside of the tomb any more.
If you happened to live near one that didn't exterminate you? You get to be slaves, probably, and pay tribute to them, but that's it. They're more Lawful Neutral than Lawful Evil, though that may be a matter of perception.

I think after they exterminate everyone they would dedicate their existence to reversing the bio transference, well maybe not Flayed Ones and Destroyers. I think after they fix that they could probably have a normal society again with art, culture, and all that. And anyone who isn't exterminated is likely to be a slave, Necrons want to be fleshy and worshipped more than anything.

There is a sect of the Necron that engage in medical and scientific experiments with every new race they encounter, searching for a way to transplant their consciousnesses into fleshy bodies once again. They're not at all close to unlocking this secret, if it can ever be unlocked, but they have slain numbers uncounted in their quest.
However, this would leave the Necrons with a bunch of mortal nobles, and hosts of mindless, immortal metal soldiers. Not really a basis for a functional society.

Speaking of which, Necron attempts at transplanting their consciousnesses could have allowed the Pariahs to remain... DAMN YOU WARD!!!!!!

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Why is it assumed a writer is behind the end of a model line? I am pretty damned sure if GW wanted them to still be made he would have been told to make sure they where in the book.

Technically, they are still in the book; there's a nice picture of a couple a pariahs in the new codex, which was clearly lifted from its predecessor.
However, there are no rules for them, sadly. I guess it makes sense; it was a bit odd that the necrons would deploy an experimental prototype of their next generation of bodies as frontline troops. True, it had the 0-1 limit, but still...
Found the picture, its on pg86
