I was originally going to do this in a P&M Blog, but I figured I'd just show off some of the stuff I've been doing lately here instead. First, the new model to represent my Great Company's Wolf Lord, a converted Scibor Miniatures Celtic Lord. The model is very imposing, towering over most of my other units (quite fittingly), I'm very happy with how it turned out.





The old-school power armoured Njal Stormcaller. I think the model's a bit stiff, but the ability to run Njal in a Rhino is definitely worth it.





A Battle Sister that I got for my Deathwatch project (recently, a Battle Sister joined in our kill teams' campaign).

yaaay! Great job. I'm looking forward to getting the Scibor Atlas when I get the chance.

Hey I think you have some great painting talent, but your covering it up with all that thick gloss. Most models don't want shine unless it's specific spots like wet skin etc and use it sparingly. The carnasaur would be good for that. The marines not so much. Also the thickness seems to be mugging up the models crevices and hiding you paint.

Yeah, I need a good matte sealer... any recommendation? The one I have doesn't dull the gloss very well.

Your painting actually looks decent, but that gloss is totally shocking. What is it purity seal? avoid it at all costs you may as well dip them in Ronseal decking varnish lol.

What i do is if they are for gaming gloss them with Vallejo gloss or something similar then Dullcote (glass tub product applied via airbrush, avoid spray can cos unless your careful you could end up with huge blobs) if they are for showcase i dont gloss i go straight to Dullcote.

Me? I don't gloss them at all. I get clear krylon coating and spray it from a distance so it does not run. Ensure you shake the can really good at least 2 min and the room your spraying in is not to humid cold or hot so it dries right. Look at my sig links to see how my spraying turned out.

The paint jobs seem to be too shiny. Maybe use a dulling clear coat or a dry brush of some sort.

I'm gonna pick up some Testors Dullcote and give that a try (I have Krylon Matte Finish but it doesn't dull the gloss nearly enough for my liking). I'll reupload for comparison when they're finished.

i adore the minis and the paint job is great.....but the gloss coat is horrid

My only gripe is way too much gloss on everything.

Ok so I picked up a couple cans of Dullcote and applied it to my Wolf Lord... this stuff is magic in a can, you'd never know I'd varnished the model. Here are the updated pics of the Wolf Lord (I'll upload matte pics of the other models at some point as well):

He looks vastly better now. So yeah, awesome paint job! Looking forward to seeing the others de-shinyficated.

You should aim to get your Atlas model before you make the trip up so that way he can have a truly titanic face-off (and the picture of the battle would be epic).

I don't have a TWC Andilus, he's Terminator or nothin'. My TWC Lord is Jarl Galich though.

Wow, that change in gloss is drastic. Did look terrible before which was a shame as the paint job looks good. It almost made the paint look much thicker.

Repaired versions look great. Nice recovery.

I had a little bit of a modelling disaster... I painted up my other 2 Scibor Celtic Warriors and when I went to Dullcote them, some crusted aerosol or something sprayed out and frosted the Marines and my Battle Sister. I ended up having to touch them up to get rid of the white blotches (which took a couple hours), but I managed to salvage them. I think their original paintjobs looked slightly better, however.

Njal and Arjac. They're both still a little bit glossy, but it's hard to tell unless you're shining a bright light directly on them... I was unhappy with Arjac when he was glossy, but now that he has been dullcoted, he looks much better.
