HELP WANTED: Paid position for civilians to be friends with confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik. Duties may include visiting his Norwegian prison to play chess or hockey.

Details of the gig were first reported by Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang, and later translated by other media outlets.

Breivik, a 33-year-old right-wing extremist, is currently on trial for bombing a government building in Oslo and going on a shooting rampage at a youth camp last summer. The massacre claimed 77 lives.

The director of the prison where Breivik could be housed said steps are being taken to keep him away from other inmates.

"Many of the measures surrounding Breivik are being created to avoid a hostage-taking, which would be the only way for him to get through all the different layers of security that have been established between him and freedom," Knut Bjarkeid told the paper.

But Norwegian law reportedly considers it cruel punishment to keep inmates in total isolation for long periods of time.

"We are planning a professional community around him, with employees and hired personnel," the warden said.

It was not reported how much the positions might pay.

His trial is expected to last until July. If found to be insane, AFP reports Breivik would instead be sent to a closed psychiatric ward.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

That was the guy who wrote that massive and kinda creepy manifesto that was released, like, a year ago, right?

I'd play chess with him. Probably not hockey.

Okay, maybe hockey.

I'd do that, Probably would try it even if it didn't pay that well

Yeah it would be scary the frist day, you're in the same room as a self confessed mas murderer. but once you get passed that it's just a job, better than stacking shelves at the suppermarket.

Didn't some guy set himself on fire as a protest against this guy?

If I was the father or brother of one of his victims, I would gladly sign-up to play "Hockey" with the guy... I really doubt the guards would be fast enough to keep someone from bashing his head in with an hockey stick...

Basically: yes.

That person killed a bucket load of people, there are videos of him doing it, he admitted to doing it, he even wrote a book about doing it, he cannot be rehabilitated and turned into a productive member of society so keeping him in prison will only waste societies resources -> kill him.

Because the death penalty isn't a part of law in most 1st world contries, including norway

Capital punishment in Norway (Norwegian: dødsstraff) was abolished in 1979. The penal code/the criminal law of 1902, in force from 1905, abolished capital punishment in peacetime. Military capital punishment was abolished in 1979. The last execution in peacetime was carried out on 25 February 1876, when Kristoffer Nilsen Grindalen was beheaded in Løten. Several persons, mainly Norwegians and Germans, were executed after the Second World War and the years of Nazi occupation, among them Vidkun Quisling.

Your point being? He still deserves to die and you don't even need to change the law, just put him next to all the other criminals to serve his sentence... After what he did, he wouldn't live 1 month.

That's not how it works. They have a legal system, and they have to adhere to it.

If you want to change it, go become a Norwegian citizen, run for office, get elected, become the PM, and go change the laws. Until then, he stays alive.

So, He's a mass-murderer AND they are worried he will take another inmate hostage to try to escape..... And they want to pay me to play chess with the guy. What could go wrong?

The norwigian law would differ, nobody "deserves" to die, yes what he did was wrong, but the norwigians decided in the 70s they didn't want to have the death penalty any more, they need to stick by that now, not change the laws for individual incidents.

and every judge would know that Gen. population = death for him

Nothing. Guards are everywhere, he's under 24/7 surveillance, and if he tries anything, the consequences shall be swift. Probably tasers and stun grenades.

You'll probably interact with him on the other side of a closed door or plexiglass wall.

I'd pass on the opportunity. The guy will probably just drone on and on about his crazy ideas and conspiracy theories.

I'd do it as well. Would enjoy listening to his reasoning, and i dare say I would agree with some of the things he said. I figure i have more in common with a white right wing extremist than a
Muslim one, and i would play chess with one of them.

Namely, i understand his frustration, but disagree hugely with his execution.

I think the first thing I would say is

"couldn't you have just wrote an angry letter!? "

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

It would have to be Semi-Pro. Not a full season...

Exactly! I mean not only is crime deterrence a valid reason for taking a human life, all the data supports that it does that job extremely well. The US has more executions than anywhere in the developed world! That's why our violent crime rate is so much lower than everywhere else.

Nothing like some good old righteous human death. Fry those suckers up and put their nuts in some justice stew.
