Are there any books covering how they were defeated? I mean in the HH novel they were kicking some butt. Come to find out later they are all dead. Shame really they were awesome.

All thats known is that they were destroyed some time after the Heresy by an Imperial invasion. Their advanced technology was little help against the might of the Imperium.

They were a footnote in the bigger story. They were interesting to read about but the couldn't devote too many pages to a sub plot.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I believe it was Lord Solar Macharius who bombed the ever-living gak out of them and left, as he says, "of them and all their works, there remains nothing but dust".

From the first few novels of the HH series, after Erebus stole the anathame blade the Luna Wolved went to war with the interex and wiped them all out.

This was during the great crusade, not after though. It was mentioned in the book after the one mentioning the interex (the one where Horus is injured by said blade) by Capt. Garro. He was choosing ammunition and asked which would be better given the enemy. A sarge (I think) asked something like "what if they have armor like the Interex?", to which Garro said to use the hyper velocity rounds.

As this is from memory, I can't say the names of the books off hand. But this is what I remember.

Cheers

Would loved to see more on the Interex. Really think GW is missing the boat on putting things in books and fluff and the not following up on them even in a small way such as a WD Codex.

I can't remember the company but they have Core forces and Edge forces. Core forces are the main stay and will have codex and the works. While Edge forces are groups or units that exist as a one off thing that can be included but its made clear that they ain't going to be a full blown army. Just something somebody did because it was fun.

After reading about these guys on the wiki, I would love to see them in game. An alternate human army would be great, plus they're very different from any current race.

Hrm, their empire was relatively small and, regardless of who actually did it, all sources suggest the Imperial response to them was utter obliteration. If any of them *did* manage to flee, it obviously wasn't to somewhere that would offer them even the faintest glimmer of hope of ever being in a position to claim their heritage. At best, they blended into some Imperial world somewhere and have taken up lives a grox-farmers, and now their descendants are living happily ever after on Planet Iowa.

No really. But if you wanted to you could take Empire horses, space marine torsos and have a bunch of centaur cavalry for counts as bikes or something. Might be pretty sweet.

Agreed that it's a pity, both the Interex and the Technocracy both seemed pretty cool. Though it is a bit amusing that an alien race that the Interex defeated and confined to a planet is utterly avoided by the Imperium (Megarachnids)

Utterly avoided?

The Luna Wolves and BAs wiped the Megarachnids out just before encountering the Interex. its actually how they met, the Crusade fleet triggered some orbital sensors the Interex had left behind.

Sure? I heard the planet murder is completely avoided due to the megarachnids after they wiped out a sizeable landing force.
EDIT: the genocidal campaign was called off. fate of Megarachnids remain unknown post heresy

The megarachnids raped face against the initial landing force of Blood Angels. The Emperor's Children came to reinforce the Blood Angels, and got their asses kicked as well. The Luna Wolves came to reinforce the Emperor's Children, and the three forces combined took it to the megarachnids. By the time the Interex arrived, the Megarachnid's were broken. The Astartes were basically just mopping up.

Yeah, if there were any that survived they were doubtlessly wiped out when the Imperium eventually destroyed the Interex at a later date. Just one more world to add to the fold.

The Interex were making peace and coexisting with aliens which was completely against the Emperors edicts so once talks broke down Horus had no choice but to exterminate them, the war with the Interex is referenced in False Gods I believe.

Horus was at the begining stages of getting dorrupted by chaos by this point. He staged the whole thing where the interex commander allegedly did something hostile. It was bs, horus just wanted to kill them

That was not the Interex. They basically chased Horus away. The commander that Horus setup was from the next Technocracy something that they encountered afterwards.

It was a different species that the Interex were interacting with. The extermination campaign on the Megarachnids was halted upon meeting the Interex and there are no indications if it was ever resumed.

Yes I know that, the Kinebrach were the race the interex had assimilated into their culture. The point I was making is that the Interex were polar opposite to everything the IoM stood for, they consorted with eldar and tolerated the existance of xenos. The extermination campaign was virtually over when the interex arrived to intercede, the megarachnid race was all but extinct by this point.

I was referring to False Gods (book 2 of the series) where there is some mention of a war with the interex, I can't find the exact quote right now but it refers to a conflict to contain or eliminate them.

All but extinct =/= extinct. And with no records provided that the Imperium ever resumed the genocidal campaign, one can assume that after nigh 10,000 years, the Megarachnids have replenished if not surpassed the numbers they had prior to contact with the Imperium.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
