I've been prepping to start up with Infinity, and am hoping to get my hands on my first set of minis. I want to play a Combined Army force of primarily if not exclusively Morat figures. What should I get first? I do not know everything about the rules, but many of the basics interest me enough to start and the models are fantastic even if I never get to use them!

If you want to just do Morat you might as well start off with the Yaogat box and some vanguard. Then some Suryats or maybe even a Sogoat.

And then get ready to start dreaming of a Raicho T.A.G.

And then realize that you'll probably get one within a few months, and then realize that you don't deserve it because you'll have not put in enough time wanting one!

There's a few models in the CA range I absolutely adore. One of them is the Caskuda. More than anything else in the entire Infinity range.

The Raicho might not be available yet, but the Morats do have the Sogarat which in many ways is like a like TAG.

They are pricey, but hard. Their Automedkits and PH of 15 certainly come in handy...

And they're linkable too!

Also, is it worth purchasing a new 2nd edition rulebook, or is there something new rumored to be on the horizon?

Only new book coming is the 3rd book, a expansion not a new edition. So you should be getting 2nd edition core and HS, and not have to worry a 3rd edition coming any time soon.

I think the 2nd ed. rulebook would be a safe purchase. The rumoured thing, if you've heard about it, is a new expansion. So it will not replace the main rulebook.

9 orders, three (linked) Sogorat. Sounds like fun to me!

Morats are a great sectorial to start with, though can be a little more limited than others.
Basically start with a nice link of Yaogats and learn to love 5 panzerfausts on the table at a time... they faust panzers.

I like to play with a second linkable group of Daturazi to send in as a first wave, but you can play with switching between which squad is linked.
Then add whatever strikes your fancy... drop troops, heavy weapons, etc.

They are all hard as nails.
