Subject: I need help choosing an army for a 500 point tournament.

On a Canoptek Spyder's Waiting List
|
I am going to be playing in a 500 point tournament. I need help deciding what army to bring.
Here are the rules;
Lists will only be 500 points and you must build them using the following Force Org restrictions (2012 Adepticon rules):
0-1 HQ 1-3 Troops (you MUST bring at least one Troop choice) 0-1 Elite 0-1 Fast Attack 0-1 Heavy Support 0-1 ‘Swing Slot’ (this maybe be used to field one additional Troops, Elite, Fast Attack OR Heavy Support choice)
• Armies are not required to take mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0-1) apply. (Note: the requirement to have a certain unit in play before buying another is still required. Using Blood Angels as an example, they would still have to have the required Death Company infantry in play to field a Death Company dreadnought)
• You may spend remaining points on units from anywhere in the Codex.
• No Special/Unique/Named Characters are allowed in the Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol event.
• With the exception of Troops and models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, No model can have more than 2 Wounds.
• Psykers may only attempt ONE psychic power (or activate a force weapon) per game turn.
• Aside from Troops choices and dedicated Transports, only vehicles with a maximum of 11 in any armor facing may be taken. Dedicated transports and troops may have a maximum armor facing of 12. Vehicle Squadrons and Artillery units are permitted provided every unit within the unit individually would be permitted. Vehicle upgrades that increase an armor facing may only raise the armor value to a maximum of 12 (this includes Necron Quantum Shielding).
I have 3 Different races to choose from. They are, C:SM, Necrons, and Orks.
C:SM List at 500;
Troops
Tactical Squad x5 (Power Weapon (Razorback, Lascannon Twin-linked Plasma Gun)) = 180
Tactical Squad x5 (Power Weapon (Razorback, Lascannon Twin-linked Plasma Gun)) = 180
Troops = 360
Fast Attack
Land Speeder (Heavy Flamer, Multi-melta) = 70
Land Speeder (Heavy Flamer, Multi-melta) = 70
Fast Attack = 140
Total = 500
Necron list at 500;
Troops
Necron Immortals (Tesla) x5
Fast Attack
Canoptek Wraiths x6 (Whip Coils x2, Particle Caster) = 235
Fast Attack = 235
Heavy
Annihilation Barge (Gauss Cannon)
Annihilation Barge (Gauss Cannon)
Heavy = 180
Total = 500
Lastly, Orks at 500;
EDIT****
Here's a tweaked Ork list to get a little more oomph;
Troops
Ork Boyz x12 (Nob (Power Klaw, 'Eavy Armor) Trukk (Reinforced Ram)) = 152
Ork Boyz x12 (Nob (Power Klaw, 'Eavy Armor) Trukk (Reinforced Ram)) = 152

Not bad....I'd say Orks but drop the stikkbombs and RPJ. This leaves 59 points. I'd find another point so you could take 3 big gunz.

I was actually thinking about dropping the Stikk Bombs, but why the RPJ? And do you mean Lobba type guns? I don't have any of those unfortunately.

No, I meant kannon. At 20 a pop I think it's a fantastic buy in lower point games where you aren't fillin your hvy slots. Trukks are fast enough, and too flimsy to waste points on, PARTICULARLY in a 500 pt list. The only thing I run on them is RR. Running through terrain is nice.....but being able to tank sHock after delivering troops is a good bonus.

Orks are the best! But that list needs tweaking.
If your hearts with the Trukks just run RR, it's the only decent upgrade for them.
I'm not sure what I'd run. You could do something like this and outnumber night on everything.
20 Orks 2 Rokkits 1 Nob with PK and BP 170P
20 Orks 2 Big Shootas 1 Nob with PK and BP 160P
20 Orks 2 Rokkits 1 Nob with PK and BP 170P
Or you could do the opposite and run something silly like.
30 Gretchin and 3 Runtherds 1 with Grot Prod 125P
3 Dakkajets with RPJ and extra SupaShoota. 375P
Or something more sensible but you get the idea.
Just popped into my mind that you could run a dual
Battlewagon list, with some tweaks perhaps.
20 Orks 1 Nob with PK and BP 150P
20 Orks. 120P
2 Battlewagons with Deff Rollas and 1 Big shoota 230P

I can't use any armor over 12 so no Battlewagons.
I can't bring more than one of any unit type with exception of troops. I also have access to one "swing slot" allowing me to take one additional unit of any one type.
