Subject: Where to go from this point in my hobby?

Okay, so I've just finished my 50 pts Menoth army at Warmahordes, and now I stand at a crossroad. Should I start a Cryx army (15 pts), or should I start a WoC army (1000 pts) at WHFB ? Both would cost me the same cost (around a hundred usd). Both armies and games have my hearth equally, that's for sure, and this is why I'm so hesitating. My main concern is that since a few years, GW as been, let's say, getting worse on the matter of several topics (game balance, price hiking, communication with its customers). I feel starting WHFB is like is throwing myself in the mouth of the wolf (if you don't understand this expression, that's because I'm a French Canadian, it means putting ourself in a bad situation). I feel I should contend myself with one Warmahordes army and maybe try to start WoC (hell, since I'm a kid I dream of these guys, and I'm 22). Yet on the other hand, I know from reading on these forums that GW doesn't treat its customers fairly, or at the least not as good as PP does. What should I do in your opinion ?

What's more popular in your area is the question you should be asking instead. Knowing the answer will start you on the path of army choice.

Its always good to be able to play two games but is WFB played around you? If so I would say start your chaos army. If you have wanted to build and paint them since you were a kid then you will enjoy doing it even if years down the road you decide you dont like GW anymore. It isn't like they come to your house and take your models away

It seems like a good advice, but everyone knows the devil can be quite seducing. My primary fear is that if I do that, I'll discover it's not such a great deal... But WHFB seems to be pretty well played in my area (montreal and its surrounding). Even more than W40k to be honest (thought I've just posted the question to be sure on the Wargaming Montreal forums).

The only Hordes army that interest me is Legion, and its for the scuulpt of its models. However, your answer just made me realise something :
In Warmahordes, the only real army that works with my type of play is Menoth. All the other armies aren't made for me. Yeah, they have fantastic models and sculpts and ect. But only Menoth feels like I'm wearing a glove.
Cryx doesn't use enough Jack, and they are to fragile.
Khador is just to plain brutish. Cygnar focus to much on ranged for me.
Menoth is my real home .
Fearless knights and Paladins with weapon master ? Hell yeah ! And since I'm over with my PoM army, that no other army at WarmaHordes fit me, then I think it's time to jump to WoC .
Of course, when PoM will gain new models (more precisely, the new Kreoss, damn he looks good), then I'll jump back . (By jumping back, I'm talking about buying and expanding, not playing one at a time).
I think I'll buy WoC, but paint them with the colours of the Cryx paint set
Thx for your precious answers guys !

It's an interesting time to play WFB.
I will claim that all the 8th ed books that have come out have been surprisingly balanced with each other and with 8th ed. itself.
I mean, you could argue the Tomb Kings are the least powerful and maybe the Ogres are the most, but the power disparity is very small.
Warriors, if anything, will probably get an overall nerf as many things in that book are a little too good (Marauders, Infernal Puppet, Chosen Death Stars...etc.) Also, there are many rumours that Warriors are the next book.

How do you think this will affect their point value and their cost money-wise ? Will this nerfing down forces players to buy more models and as such spend more money, or will they stay roughly the same ?

Here's what I think:
This is why I think Warhammer Fantasy 8th ed. is pretty well balanced - when the Empire book came out this April, most of the units went up in points (6 of the State Troops, Cannons, Mortars...etc) Prices of the boxes stayed the same. So if you were a new Empire player, you were generally spending less money to build an army than you would have in 7th. Now, most of these points increases were probably necessary. Empire fighty Troops were very good for 5pts but became ok at 6pts and more expensive command. Artillery was probably a little too good for their old costs. I think the Empire shooty Troops and Mortars took too big of a hit, but that's just my opinion.
One could argue that the reason for this was because GW wanted existing players to buy all the new toys now that their old toys were not as good, but honestly, aside from Demigryphs, none of the new toys are must haves.
So here's what I think is going to happen in the Warriors book: Marauders will go up in points (~2pts.) Warriors will get a slight nerf in stats but drop in points (~2-3pts) The rest is too hard to speculate on.
In terms of pricing, I expect each box to drop to 10 strong and be about $30-$35 canadian (in line with Orcs or beastmen.)

Seems good to me. As long as WoC stay roughly the same (an army of elites) and doesn't become a Horde army, it's ok with me

I probably wouldn't paint your WoC with Cryx colors - you'll get really tired of painting the same scheme over again on new models, if you're anything like me!

I have never been more shocked and saddened by a new game edition as I was with 8th Ed... And I've played since 3rd.

I think 8th as a whole is a better game than 6th and 7th. And from what I've read and been told, the game was absolutely horrible before that.

Didn't you just start a thread about "I know I will regret it if I die before having the chance to assemble a World Eater army"? (two days ago) And a thread about how you want a vanilla marines army? (a month ago) And two threads about starting 40K or WHFB? (both last month) And starting Dark Eldar? (April) I think you definitely need to have a real think about where you want to go next. Other people can't tell you that.If you're not feeling pretty inspired then you'll lack the commitment to finish a 40K or WHFB army which is pretty big investment of time and money. Also, how on earth do you have 550 posts and 250 threads started? Do you regularly start threads and then not post in them?

Think I'm pretty decided since I've just bought my stuff. Plus, one must always verify and re-verify before doing a move.
