So I went to my buddies house yesterday to throw some dice. He recently assembled his entire Grey Knight army with this stuff. The models were primed with GW Chaos Black primer. While I was there he sprayed on some Leadbelcher paint and while doing it 2 of his models had arms that had fallen off. He sprayed some 20 terminators with no issues. While we were playing, 2 more guys lost arms not while being touched just sitting there. It has me kind of worried as I have been assembling with it, and while I have had no issues with my models but have not primed them either, I am wondering if the primer had an effect on it or if he just happened to get some from a bad batch. Wanted to know what other experience you all have had with it.

My best advice is to not use it. You can buy better and cheaper super glue from Home Depot or Lowes. Look for Loktite Super Control Gel, I think you'll find it easier to use with better results. I also use Zap-A-Gap with great success as well.

I have been using the plastic glue no problem. It would have just been a bad joint. Did he assemble everything then prime, or try gluing the arms on after, because that would cause some problems.

Also, we all know you can get great cheap super glue, but there are still some of us that prefer our models not falling apart all the time. Super glue is not the end all be all of glues.

It must be a bad batch, ive had this with the normal stuff before.
If you look at the contact points when the glue is it will more than likely be crystalised.
Seems to do that rather than melt the parts together.

Ive been using he thin one without any issues though, and thats on things randing from bloodletters to a soulgrinder.

Must be a bad batch then. I do prefer the plastic glue to the loctite for plastics as it kinda melts the plastic fusing them together. I've used it on even Tomb King Skeleton where all that is connecting the torso to the leg is the small spinal cord. Well thanks for the info all, I'll pass it along to him.

Testors master modeller glue is what I use and while it is a "premium" brand, it is still cheaper per .oz than GW's.

I currently borrow a friend's bottle for melting together small cracks and seams, as it flows too quickly for me. I usuallly take a while posing parts.
One thing to keep in mind, is that it really, really smells. It's stronger than the non-GW tube of thick cement I use, easily. It's second nature for me to simply rub excess cement off my fingers - when I did that with the thin cement, the fumes went right up my nose and gave me a headache for hours.

I've used the GW plastic glue ever since some got shipped to me by accident, and I have to say that it works pretty well. The only issue being that it drys in the small tube it uses as an applicator and I am constantly having to clear it. I've used it to assemble my Dark Eldar and haven't had any problems.

I am not keen on it myself, I found it's like most plastic cements in that it leaves a "thread" of glue behind as you pull it away from the model.

Although the GW one is a LOT worse than the ones or normally use (Revell and Humbrol). I stopped using it after the first squad and used superglue instead.

What, there are still people out there not using decent plastic cement? Come on.

I did the conversion contest at Games Day last year, and this stuff wouldn't glue anything together. Not even my fingers. My friend was having the same problem. The conversion contest is my favorite thing about Games Day...and it was utterly ruined. Considering I came from Mass, I'm not going back to Games Day nor will I be buying their Superglue bad batch or not it was enough to tarnish my perceptions of it.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I have to say, this is the only stuff i use!
I bought a bottle about 8 years ago, and after a 5 year break from painting due to being at sea most of the time, i have recently come back to modelling and am using the same 8 year old bottle, and its as good now as the day i bought it!

Do yourself a favour and get some and don't look back, seriously. Go go go!

Sorry to bump this old thread, I am finding limbs are falling off. The last glue mentioned this Revell Contacta.. I live in the US and was wondering where I can find it. Is it available at Lowes? Home Depot? Wal-Mart? or Michaels? Thanks for the help

You can also use Gorilla Glue. I've been using it and it works good. It's found in most stores that sell those sorts of things (IE Walmart, home depot, lowes).

You can use Gorilla SUPER Glue. DO NOT use regular Gorilla Glue, it will merely make a mess! If you can't find Revell Contacta the Testor's Model Masters is very easy to find. Try and find the one with the metal tip, it's a bit easier to deal with.
