Howdy all, today got 4 games in an escalation league; two 500 pt games (I missed last week), one 1.5k game, and one Cityfighting 1k game (because the 1k cityfight tourney is on fathers day so I wouldn't make it).

Game 1 - 500 pts

Daemons
6x fiends - might
5x horrors - bolt
5x horrors - bolt
6x horrors - bolt, changling

Vs

Chaos Space Marines
9x plague marines - meltagun, pf champ
6x thousand sons - sorcerer w/ doombolt - rhino w/ ea/combi-melta

Mission: get a unit to opponents deployment zone
Deployment: spearhead
No secondary mission
Extra Points: Kill Enemy Commander, get your commander into opponents deployment zone, kill all of opponents non-scoring units



Deployment
I win the roll off, getting my preferred wave (fiends + changling squad). Hank deploys on his LH flank. Hanks commander is his sorcerer, mine is changling.

He chooses not to seize.

Daemons T1
Changlings squad drops in, deviating horribly to the north. Fiends drop in trying to get behind the buildings out of LoS and deviate badly to the right -_-

Shooting changlings squad whiffs on the plague marines. Fiends run to spread out in cover.



Chaos Marines T1
His rhino moves up 12" and the 1K sons get out. Plagues shamble forward.

Shooting between his 1k sons and plagues he kills 2 fiends and wounds 2 others (even with cover!)

Daemons T2
None of my reserves come in.

Changlings squad skirts around to the left. Fiends set up to charge.

Shooting hank makes a bunch of saves on the 1k sons (trying to whittle them down :( ). I then multicharge everything with the fiends.

Amazingly, I whiff badly, hank makes a ton of saves, and only 2 plagues and 2 1k sons die. He then wipes out the fiends :(

Hank consolidates towards changlings squad.

Chaos marines T2
Hank moves everything toward changlings squad.

Shooting sees his PM's out of range (barely), 1k sons/rhino take pot shots, killing 3 horrors.

Daemons T3
Everything else comes in and lands (more or less) on target.

Shooting I unload tons of stuff and wipe out the 1k sons.



Chaos Marines T3
Hank doesn't move, he wants to try and wipe out my Orange horrors in his zone (if he'd moved he'd be very far from rapid firing).

Shooting he fails his test for changling! His melta misses the rhino tho :( His rhino takes a pot shot and kills 1 orange horror.



Daemons T4
Changlings squad runs into hanks deployment zone, ensuring I'll at least draw (it would take him 2 turns just to be able to shoot them). My orange/blue horrors shuffle.

Lots of firepower pours into the plagues and about 3 or 4 bite it. Hanks hot on saves, bolts are actually doing some work!



Chaos Marines T4
With only 4 marines and a rhino, hank begins his withdraw, moving hot towards my deployment zone.

Daemons T5
Orange and Blue horrors pursue. I blow up his rhino and kill 2 more plagues.



Chaos Marines T5
His last two plagues hoof it and make it to my deployment zone!

This mission automatically goes to 6 with no turn 7, so we keep going.

Daemons T6
With everything on the line, I throw everything I have at those last two marines... and they finally go down.

MASSACRE TO THE DAEMONS!!!

Afterthoughts: Fun game! I was surprised my fiends didn't do much damage, but luckily my horrors were up to the task (that and hanks range was pretty bad). I score max 20 points and we move to our second game.

Game 2 - 500 pts

Lists are same as above

Mission: objectives deep strike in randomly (roll reserves). 1 per player
Deployment: dawn of war
No secondary mission
Extra Points: Kill Enemy Commander, your commander must be within 6" of an objective by end of game, kill all of opponents non-scoring units

[b]Deployment

I win the roll off again, choose to go first, and get my bad wave this time (2x horrors). Hank deploys balled up under the northern building.

Daemons T1
My blue horrors drop into cover north, my orange horrors deviate badly and land in BFE nowhere.I lose 3 horrors to dangerous terrain (yes, you read that right lol)

Shooting my bolt wrecks his rhino. Orange horrors cannot see anything so run.

Chaos Marines T1
Hanks 1k sons advance, plagues sit tight.

Shooting he wipes my blue horrors.

Daemons T2
Both my reserves come in, woo! Changlings squad lands spot on north, fiends land spot on just right of my orange horrors.My objective comes in and lands in the middle of my southwest crater.

Shooting I unload on the 1k sons and roll badly, hank makes what few saves he has.

Chaos Marines T2
Hanks objective comes in and mishaps! It goes back to reserve... shucks :(

His 1k sons form a wall, his plagues move in behind them. I know hanks trying to bait me so that the plagues can charge my fiends.

Daemons T3
Fiends move toward hanks bait wall. My goal is to wipe the sons with firepower, and charge the plagues.

Shooting I roll baaaadddlllyyy and only 1 1k son dies.... really? Fiends fleet up.

In assault fiends charge and horribly wipe the sons off the board.

Chaos Marines T3
Hanks objective comes in and lands spot on, bottom of the building he was hiding in. Ugh. Theres no LoS to shoot into it, so he can just hole up if the fiends die.

Shooting his plagues use pistols and do a couple wounds on the fiends.

Assault he charges in. I roll badly, getting 1 rend. Hank makes all 7 of his armor saves, didn't even need FnP lol! He kills 2 fiends and wounds a third. I then lose every fiend but 1 to fearless, then H&R away. Hank gets a great consolidation roll, hiding back under his building.

Daemons T4
My last fiend runs away from the plagues to deny him his bonus. Horrors shuffle.

No shooting as his plagues hide.

Chaos Marines T4
Plagues hide.

Daemons T5
Fiend gets a safe distance away. Changlings squad creeps toward his objective. Plan: Move within 3" (it landed close to the walls, so I can get close) and force him to come out and charge me. If even 1 horror lives, I'll win. I cannot wipe out the plagues due to this stupid building blocking all LoS lol

Plagues sit tight,

Daemons T6
I run onto the objective.

Chaos Marines T6
Hank needs to move me, so moves over his rhino to charge me, losing 2 marines to DT. Woo!

He pistols then charges me... 2 horrors live, I do no wounds back. I pick up my dice to take my 3 fearless saves....... and fail them all :( Wa wa wowowoowowoowow....

DRAW FOR THE DAEMONS

Afterthoughts: Ouchies... dumb fiends couldn't kill some stupid marines :( Fiends whiffed both these games, so hopefully they don't suck my next 2 lol! Otherwise hank played well, and I played pretty well. I got good at keeping the horrors out of range of his 12" guns. Damn hanks hot saves! This game gave me 11 points as I drew and got 2 bonus missions. This puts me in 4th currently, pitting me against the 3rd place Grey Knights who had the same score from last week!

Looking forward to these. My prediction is...

Daemons win 500 point vs. CSM with two Massacres

Purifiers are good, but die in droves to Daemons when dismounted - with 10 man squads he has to expose them. I think Daemons squeak out a win in the 1500 point game.


The last mission really favors the Daemons - but I think the Blood Angels are fast enough to make a game of this one - I am betting on a draw for it.

As a matter of curiosity, why the 5 man Fiend squads?

Cuz I only have 10 converted up ill probably convert some more if and when we get a new dex. Also, this escalation league judges painting, so almost everything I use is painted (thus far the only unpainted minis I used we're the crushers)

Well written, I have been keeping an eye out for these reports. I am surprised that you struggled so much in both games it seems. Do you think being more conservative in your initial DS - given the enemy had to advance to you and if he did you could DS behind - could have made a difference?

Honestly think it was dice; 5 fiends should have very little issue winning an assault against 9 plague marines. The fact I got very few rends didn't help lol. But yesh, I think I should have been less agressive, playing w/o weaver is a lot harder as models seem to die far more quickly

All 4 games up! ill be getting the final game in next weekend with the final results on how I did for the league.... I'm currently in 1st with 89/100 battlepoints with only 2 opponents that can come close and only with a perfect 30-0 sweep so I'm feeling confident! Last game is 2k points and ill know who my opponent is early next week!

I managed to get 1 done and 2 half done, and the other 2 primed and basecoated. So think ill be good, i ve been painting while the wife watches her shows on netflix haha
