Hey,

Wanting 500 point army, needs to be competitive.

Wanting troops, immortals with tesla. But I'm needing help as I'm new to the necrons.

The usual armies I'll be facing are Dark eldar and the grey knights.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

I think that it's going to be difficult to create a competitive list at 500pts. Simply because it's not a very common points level and you are restricted a lot by the FoC. Plus, the fact that you want to use immortals takes a chunk out of your points. I'd probably go with something like this.

HQ:

Overlord: 180pts
-Warscythe
-Catacomb Command Barge with Gauss Cannon

Royal Court

3 Crypteks of Destruction: 105pts
-Eldritch Lances

Necron Lord with Ressurection Orb: 65pts

Troops:

5 Immortals: 85pts
-Tesla Carbines

5 Immortals: 85pts
-Tesla Carbines

Total: 480pts

Ok, there we go, and then you still have 20pts to play around with. You have some sustainable anti-tank in the form of the Royal Court, Ever-Living and the Res Orb should keep them from dying. The Immortals fill out your troops and give you some anti-infantry and the Overlord gives you some manouverability and a way of dealing with heavier armour if someone decides that they want to try and take a Land Raider or something in 500pts because no-one will bring anything to kill it.

Hope this is useful.

I like Rampage's list.

However, without knowing what models you have, it'll be difficult to come up with an answer. For example, Rampage's list doesn't have wraiths or scarabs or much mech. For 500 points you could have a couple of Anni Barges as well as the CCB. Comes down to how you want to play?

Overlord, Warscythe, CCB (180)
5xWarriors (65)
5xWarriors (65)
2xAnniBarge (180)

Total 490.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

I would go with rampage's list, however drop the one random lord, and grab more immortals

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

I'll move my comment on your previous thread here, for mobility list:

As it stands a focus on tesla would work great with:

Overlord w/ CC Barge
Warscythe

5 Tesla Immortals

5 Warriors

4 Tomb Blades w/ Tesla

Annihilation Barge

My codex is a lazy mans long walk away so I might have gone just over there, but with 2 barges spitting out tesla, 5 immortals and 4 blades you should mow through hordes, with tesla destructors/sweeping scythe attacks taking out tanks. Its a bit light on the troops side though.

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

At this point level, Royal Courts tend to be darn spendy, so that means you're not necessarily going to need an Overlord.

Here's an option that makes some of your Immortals slightly beefier, and give you Wraiths, which would be invaluable against both DE and GK, as well as an Eldritch Lance, which is fantastico.

HQ:
Illuminor Szeras: 100pts

Troops:
5x Immortals w/ Tesla: 85pts
5x Immortals w/ Tesla: 85pts

Fast Attack:
5x Wraiths w/ Whip Coils: 205pts

Total: 495pts

Another list that involves Nemesor, giving one of your squads a res orb, and giving you all kinds of flexibility via his Adaptive Tactics. Also includes some AP2 and AP3, as well as some S7 and S8 in case your DE buddies like to spam their low AV vehicles.

HQ:
Nemesor Zahndrekh: 165pts
Royal Court:
2x Harbingers of Destruction: 70pts

Troops:
7x Immortals w/ Tesla: 85pts
7x Immortals w/ Tesla: 85pts

HS:
Annihilation Barge w/ Gauss: 90pts

Total: 495pts

4500pts

That it does. This is what happens when I try to do maths late at night. Well spotted.

The one random Lord was to keep the Crypteks alive. When a lot of your transport popping power revolves around 3 models, each with the resilience of a Necron Warrior with Ever-Living you need to be able to keep them alive. The Lord was there to improve their survivability through the RP roll.

I would say though that especially in 500pts you need to make every point count. Doubly so if you're trying to be competitive. Spending 100pts on Illuminor Szeras because he is cheap is still using 20% of your entire army, and in effect, you are getting an Eldritch lance, which you could get on a 35pt Cryptek and a random upgrade on to a unit.

Having said that. I do like Crackgnome's first list. And it comes within the points limit .

I played in a league recently, it was 500 points. This was the list I used:
Overlord, Pheron, mss, warscythe, sepitenal weave. 150

5 warriors 65

5 warriors 65

C'tan with pyreshards and swarm of spirt it dust, 220

this list work incredibly well as no body had anything that could kill the c'tan because of the points level. It could very easily be changed to include some imortals, take away the phaeron upgrade on the lord and make one of the warrior squads a squad of imortals.

I would go with gauss everytime over tesla on the immortals. Just stick a phaeron in them and they become relentless, which means they now move, shoot, glance vehicles and get an AP... Sorted

Overlord - 170
Phaeron
Res orb
Phase shifter

Cryptek - 35
Lance

Gauss Immortals x 10 - 170

Warriors x 10 - 130

Total 505

Shoot anything that moves!

20 Warriors with Phaeron > 10 Gauss Immortals with Phaeron IMO. I use Immortals as strictly AI, and tesla just makes more sense. 24" Assault 1 that can get 2 more hits on a 6? Most people give their dudes cover, granting them a 4+ cover save and if your scene is like mine, 7/10 people play Space Marines with a 3+ Sv, so AP 4 doesn't really matter. Again, IMO.
