Which name do you like the best of a Hive Fleet that made up of hundreds of small splinter fleets operating on a wide front that and heavily uses infiltration attacks and Genestealer cults.

Edit: I have not settle on a color scheme yet but it will be either bone flesh, brown claws, black eyes and orange carapace or bone flesh, brown claws, black eyes and light green carapace

Cerberus, is your only real option here.

Kerberos is the greek version, and the imperium uses "latin". Myrmidon, Lycanthrope, and Basilisk are likewise greek, and the last one is particularly egregious given that it's the name of an imperial artillery piece.

Nosferatu is just silly. Not only is it a figment of popular culture, but it's not even the right language.

Of all these, therefore, hive fleet cerberus is the way to go.

Well what colour is the scheme for it? I'd have to go with Cerberus just by the sound alone, but it gives sort of a fiery sound to it. Haven't seen nids like that before so it'd be interesting.

The fleets do not have to be Latin names:

Leviathan: Hebrew
Tiamet: Babylonian
Kraken: Germanic
Moloch: Phoenician

I vote for "None of the above" as none of those options are appealing.

Go with something else.

You also, going back to greek, could look at possibly Scilla or Charybdis. Both were massive sea creatures that brought ships to their dooms.

I am with iGuy91 on this one, either of his suggestions would fit very well, going with something a bit more obscure would be best as you don't want it to seem like you just pulled the name from a pop-culture reference.

I ruled out those names because they are already names of Hive Fleets in the codex. I wanted to make my own.

Basilisk. Cerberus is over used to death. Besides, a reptile has more to do with Nids then a dog.

I don't see how these are just pop culture references. There all names of mythical creatures. The most recent is Nosferatu, which is well over a hundred years old. Some are common in stories but it that was the criteria every Space Marine Chapter with the name "dragon" in it would be a pop culture reference. I do not mean to sound combative I just do not understand your statement.

I'm going with Myrmidon, because it sounds similar to your army design.(for those who don't know, the myrmidons were an army created but the gods for a king from an ant colony)

There are many mythologies that haven't been mined for their Hive Fleet names yet.

Four wikipedia entries could help:

I like Nosferatu, but it doesn't really fit with the scheme you're going for.

Basically choose any large, mythical creature, preferably a sea serpent.

And I think both of iGuy's suggestions are already Hive Fleets.

If it's as splintered and "many headed" as you describe of your choices Cerberus is the best. But as a description that methodologically works and just happens to be a named Hive Fleet in canon with little or no other description Hydra is probably better than your choices.

What about Cthulu? Or is that overused?

Cthulhu would not fit with his army st all really, Cthulu is some sort of sleeping god(esque) being that will awaken and destroy the earth, not split up at all.

What about Ammutseba, Atlach-Nacha, Dythalla, Q'yth-az, Baoht Z'uqqa-Mogg or M'Nagalah the devourer?

Wait Basatan that's the right one.

Id go basilisk if its a heavy trygon list (hence serpents)

mine are genestealer purple with a wazdakka red with ivory claws, ivroy blades, green eyes and a wash of a dark flesh color to give a leathering effect to the areas were limbs glue into place. But yea i am going to use Myrmidon for mine.
