So I've finally taken the plunge and started making scenery! I want to make some high quality, very detailed stuff for infinity and 40k, as well as malifaux, so I don't want anything too specific.

To that end I'm going for a lost colony type look. Maybe a low tech planet that failed and was abandoned. Or was attached by aliens or some kind of alien plague. Also fits in with 40k fluff and should work for malifaux too. So far I've made some tree groves, and several brick ruins with balsa wood and random techy bits, but nothing extremely high tech.

So, any cool ideas for stuff in that vein? Some obvious things would be hills, but I don't want to do just plain ol generic terraced wargaming hills. I also want to make more ruins, but I'd like them to actually look like something rather than just random buildings.

What would a relatively low tech lost colony or agricultural community have?

A failed colony would likely have just the habitation pods and or lab equipment and vehicle garage they arrived with.

Really depends on how long until they are "rediscovered" as for ruins.

Maybe a few half-complete buidings.

The fish tank section of a pet store has some fantastic scenery as well. You can get some online too.

I'm printing it on Cardstock paper and wrapping them around cut foam to give them some durability. Theres some good walls, high tech camp sights and lots of crates to block LOS.

Ariadna is nearly 200 years old -- a failed settlement there could work for Infinity, and look pretty ruined / vine-festooned.
