Hello everyone!

As the title says, I need an opinion about the bases I'm preparing for my Thousand Sons team.
The ambient I've imagined and that I'm trying to reproduce is an ancient and forgotten library full of books filled with spells and rune on the tiles... but, for some strange reason, I'm not able to decide wich color use to paint the space under the tiles.

Here are some pics, I hope you will help me with your opinion and advice... or maybe just voting the poll!

PS: it's not particularly difficult, but I'm thinking on making a tutorial about how I've made those bases... someone interested?

They are nice looking bases, a tutorial would be good.
Without seeing black id say brown, although a nice slate effect with suitable shading would look good.

My Vote is for the Black. I love those bases and I would use a tutorial if you make it. I probably would use it for my Thousand sons as well since it fits them really well. Nice paintjob btw.

I think the brown goes better with your theme of an old library. But either one works, they are nice bases.

Well, I think it's decided... seen there is someone interested, I will make the tutorial ASAP!
(I'm currently working on other Thousand Sons, so I'm going to need more bases soon... you'll probably see it completed in a week at maximum.)

Regarding the black or brown dilemma, I'm glad to see that the difference between the two options is so slight even for you, guys...

Voted for the brown. Both are good, but the brown also works with the gold a bit.

Very nice TS by the way.

I'd say brown, although I'd suggest that you use a lighter brown than the library floor; just to add some light?

Thank you all for the compliments and thank you for your suggestion, Slipstream. Actually I don't own another brown besides the Calthan Brown (which is the one I've used for the bases "frame"), but maybe mixing it with some Bleached Bone... I'll consider it an option.

Well, well... seems that the par behind the two colours it's gone, and the brown as detached his rival... interesting challenge!

PS: I've started working on the bases tutorial!

That's funny. I was going to say the exact opposite: try a darker/deeper version of the tan stones by adding some black or dark brown to the tan color.

Black. The brown is to overdone and since it is just the edge and you have done a beautiful rocky basing the baclk is classier looking.

I'm really liking the brown bases. Very fitting for an Egyptian-esque kind of army.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Brown. It keeps all of the accents warm, which gives a much more cohesive feel, overall. High contrast creates visual interest, but the base's rim isn't exactly where you want people to be staring.

If your primary concern is making the base's top pop, go with the black. I think the overall effect is more important, so I vote brown.

Personally, I like the brown over the black, nice bases! (:

I find Black frames a mini better, whilst browns/greys etc usually help a mini blend in with the gaming table.

imo I think the brown is better it offsets the rest of the colours really well.

As promised, people: the tutorial is out. Sorry for taking so long, hope you will enjoy it!

Go black, the rim of your base shouldn't really come into the composition of your miniature and will really allow the part of the base that you have constructed to stand out.
