I'll be playing against Space Wolves Space Marines and Orks for the most part and maybe Grey Knights in the future

y if you want your warriors actualy effective then give them a transport or dont even put the crypteks on them at all and just guy something else

For 500 points you'll likely be heavily outnumbered by the orks, maybe even the wolves depending on the set up. As it stands, mobile grey knights would chomp through any unit you have with relative ease.

More information on your opponents forces might be useful.

well I'm very new to it so I only know what types of armies my friends have not what's in them and none of us have played for ages so they will all probably write new lists anyway. How about I drop the Cryptek with gaze of flame, and have a squad of 7 warriors and 5 immortals with Tesla carbines. The other Cryptek can go with the warriors.

I don't think dropping the crypteks is going to help. The crypteks have a habit of hanging around (ever living and all) and will be scoring even if the warriors die.

At 500 points that command barge is a fair chunk. If you drop that plus Gaze of flame you can add another annihilation barge. You can then add the Overlord to a warrior squad, or, if you are careful (cos no Weave), operate him independently.

Not that the CCB is bad - its a question of how much and what mech you are going to be facing at 500pts. Assuming its mostly AV11, the anni barges will stop the armour ok (even at AP - ).

If you really want to keep the CCB, drop a Cryptek and add SW, MSS to the lord. Use the remaining points to buff a warrior squad to immortals (sort of like your suggestion). Then play the CCB aggressively and don't be shy about jumping out to take out smaller units of marines etc. Just make sure you get in base contact with any power weapons (so MSS can take those out - hopefully!) and don't get shot by too many people at once.

imho, there isn't any point going with larger warrior squads because if they get assaulted they are going to either get wiped or run anyway. That's assuming you don't go with say 10 immortals or 15 warriors - but at 500pts you'd have to rewrite your list to do that.
