So my question is I have a WoC army and I really don't care for(not that I dislike) the Sorcerer models they have. So I went to my FLGS and purchased a CSM Terminator Lord and with some left over Warriors pieces and greenstuff I have modified him into a Sorcerer Lord for my WoC. I am just wondering on other peoples opinions of at the table would you see that as a problem? He is on a 40mm square base and I have covered up all sense that he is a 40K piece other than a couple of little things that you would have to look real close to see. I just like the look of him as a model piece a felt he would fit with my WoC...Just wondering thoughts and criticism appreciated.

That's totally fine, actually sounds like a pretty cool conversion on top of it all.

If I can assume, I think you are mostly a 40k player just getting into fantasy, right? One thing about WHFB is that the whole WYSIWYG is much less stringent than in 40k, as long as the base size is right and so on.

You should have no problems at all withs omething like that. I certainly would not bat an eye about it, unless I wanted to comment on the conversion work.

If you played in the Midwest USA area conversions are pretty much mandatory for solid paint scores.

Sounds completely acceptable aside from the 40mm base size which can easily be a problem. Perhaps more so for you than your opponent since he wont fit into your units.

Conversions are awesome. I look at Forgeworld models and 40K models a lot too. No GW place should have a problem with GW gear. Some are pretty cool. I think one issue is you can't cheat Line of Sight too much and you shouldn't cheat base size at all.

You can't stick an arachnarok spider on a 25mm base as it's a huge target for templates and shooting. And even if you make it that shoebox size base, but you made the model as short as a night goblin, it wouldn't be fair, cuz the generic arachnarok spider doesn't do a ton of shooting (compared to it's melee) and you'd have your line of sight blocked from war machines and shooters by standing behind rank and file troops when in actuality almost nothing is going to block sight of that thing.

That said, anyone can refuse to play with you for whatever reason(s).

Lol I just posted pics of it in my gallery today it's under my WoC folder go look and tell me what you think.... There is also pics of my Nurgle Lord as well

I looked at placing it on a regular base but I felt that with its size it needed to be on a bigger base. I really didn't plan on him joining a unit as I kind of looked at him as being more of a independent Character type...

The nice thing with a large command character is that there is options to making him fit on a standard bases. For example a bud of mine have this shard of quartz jutting out of a base at a 45 degree angle with his FW herald on top of it, essentially hanging over the models it's beating on.

I think the only issue is the base. Otherwise sounds awesome. I would not recommend him being independent and wandering around because it paints a large target on him since he can only get a 4+ lookout sir from units he is near and again you would want him to be on a different base size.

Hmmm good point... I am still learning all the the little differences from 40K to WHFB...and this is definitely one of them. I do like him on the 40mm base but I also think he would look good on a 25mm base

I think he would look great on a 25mm base. (checked out the picture) One small suggestion, I would wash the blue areas of his armor with the blue wash that GW has. I think it would add a little bit of depth and then mix the blue you painted on those areas with a little bit of white to highlight and I think it will add a lot. Without too much additional work.
( I do a LOT of conversions for my Vampire Counts, I made a zombie unit filler out of an Ogre, and if you check out my Gallery, you will see where I turned a Dark Eldar Lamian into a Vampire)

A 25mm base is absolutely necessary. Conversions have to be appropriately based. Otherwise they follow different rules. Your sorcerer for example could effectively be in combat with more enemies than normally alotted, wearing a blasphemous amulet which causes your enemies in base contact to pass a toughness test or take wounds. I do like the model though and support conversions almost always.

Curran is right also. WHFB is MUCH less strict with wysiwig than 40k. I think this is because the difference between a rocket launcher and a pistol is far greater than a halberd or additional hand weapon lol. I feel that in 40k a model is often defined by his gear "well i've got about 20 thunderhammer stormshields" or whatever that stuff is

Very cool thx for the suggestions. I appreciate the help and all the great ideas. I am relatively new to WHFB and so far I am enjoying building and small play don't have enough for any large games yet...

Small games can be just as fun if not more so. Don't look at it as not enough - just playing at a different value. =)

Solid! As others have said, the important thing is to get him on the appropriate base. A 25mm base represents him well on foot- or you could get him up on a 50mm disc for flying shenanigans.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
