First things first - I didn't know where to post this, since this is a Painting & Modeling showcase I decided to post it here
AND i reaaly dont have any space where i could take good pictures of it so this is all i got
-3 foam boards forming a 6x4 table, glued regular sand on top of it, basedcoat, drybrush and highlighted
-6 pieces of terrain - Pyramid, 2 obelisks, and a 3 piece ruined temple.
-after i made the pyramid skeleton, i've put a lot of plaster on it and modeled it with a normal brush so it gets some sort of texture
-the same i did with the obelisks
-after it was finished i gave it a good coat of mat translucent varnish, it is a very good thing to do if you want to preserve the boards and terrain, it also gives a smooth surface so
models can slide more easily

Nice pajamas. I normally don't like desert boards, mainly because I don't like deserts. This one is an exception though, I especially like the ruined walls. Did you make them?

yes, i made it all out of foam board. for the walls i've cut 2cm tick foam into blocks and blued them together
initialy, 4 hills were part of the project, or dunes. they were seposed to be only 2 cm high just to break the simplicity of the board. But-- since i painted them after everything was finished i couldnt get the colour to match the board again... painted, repainted, rerepainted them and finaly smashed them. so maybe ill try again ill see

I see a hamster cage.
Nice gaming board but I'm more interested in the rodent.

You could make a small oasis or two with palm trees to break the very yellow colour of the table. but Im not sure if it would fit in.

The only thing i dont like is the piramid, and just because of its base... I would have done it with "sand base", like if it was buried, and that was jut the tip of it. Right now it looks like if it was "floating" some inches above aground...
And the ideia for oasis seens great for me... The board looks great and will not pop more than the painted models in it... but some blue/green spots could not hurt at all...
|
If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

yes i was thinking about the oasis with palms, but for warhammer fantasy it simply wouldn't fit, i think that the board would be overloaded :/... even tho i could start working on it, and drop one of the obelisks... well ill see what i can do for getting the palm trees.
@The Dwarf Wolf yes it would look way better like that true, but maybe you cant see it that good on the pics, it doesn't float on the ground that much on the table. The buried pyramid is an great idea! damn why didn't i came up with that idea before

Here's a good tip - if you or anyone you know goes to Egypt you can pick up black stone obalisks & heads of gods that are the perfect size for warhammer. Only cost around £5 too!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |
