Decided to build a Necron army.

My planned project list:

Warriors 2 squads 20 each.

Immortals 2 squads 10 each.

10 Scarab swarms.

6 Wraiths.

2 Nightscythes.

1 Triarch Stalker.

2 Lords.

1 Cryptek.

1 named HQ.

For the royal court and HQ I am planning to use a box of Lychguard, extra bits, and green stuff.

So far, here are the items I have gotten for the army.

Necron models are light and prone to tipping so I decided to use nickels to add weight to bases.

After trying out several color schemes, I decided to stop on this one.

Completed first batch of 19 warriors. I still need to clean up models a bit after gluing and insert styrene rods into gauss weapons.

I love the metal-bone scheme, if they all are done to that standard you will have a good looking army indeed!

Deciding to magnetize things as I go along so ordered 0.0625 diameter rare earth magnets from amazing magnets. Should be here in couple days.

While they are on their way, I magnetized things with the magnets I currently have.

Was building a Triarch Stalker over past couple days and today magnetized front legs and weapon platform for the weapon swap capability. Next step is to use small magnets on the top half and smaller weapon bits. That should create better transportation ability and wrecks will look more fun with stalker laying upside down without driver half.

I will be painting necron and the pod separately and then will glue them together.

My order of tiny magnets arrived yesterday and I was able to add them to the Triarch Stalker.

Also, today I finished a batch of 20 warriors.

Got shipment of blu-stuff. I do not have $$$ to spend on actual scarabs on ebay so will be making molds of them and using 10:3 ratio of greenstuff to plastic scarabs per base to create actual swarm effect.

My next step is to get working on the wraiths.

Finally completed wraiths. Magnetized weapons and whip coils which took most of the time. Will glue large washers so the models dont tip over. After looking at them in a bunch, Tony Montana's quote comes to mind "You ******** cockroaches!"

Made some progress on necrons, but havent had a chance to post updates.

I decided to magnetize immortals' weapons so I can switch between gauss and tesla. I cut off the cable from the weapons and drilled holes for the styrene stubs. Glued the cables to the part coming out of torso and attached styrene rods. This way I was able to achieve good weapon attachment than I would have with 2 magnets.

Airbrushed base color onto a flier and then sealed it with matte top coat so I can keep using and working on the model without paint coming off.

Currently I am putting together second flied. After that is done, I am gonna build command barge with overlord from a kit that I got couple weeks ago.

Could you post a shot of the weapon shoulder. I can't seem to get it right to do the weapon swap.

Really Like the nubbin bit on the cables.

Finally I got time so project is back on track and the cogs of doom are spinning yet again. Last couple days was modifying dudes from lychguard box into lords and cryptek.

My idea was to make them all look unique. Looking at the four together I am happy with the results.

Took my time to experiment with coloring of warscythe. Came up with a color scheme that will use for the rest of the warscyhtes.

Stellar work on the lords and cryptek. Are those gadgets supposed to be anything or are you just sticking stuff on?

Thus far, I like what I see. Also magnetizing is a huge long term money savings, so bravo on your patience.

Interesting colour in yellow/gold metallics.
How did you achieve it, if it's not a secret?

Just random things I stuck onto the models to differentiate them.

Dark grey primer. Airbrushed mithril silver. Washed with agrax earthshade.
For the bronze areas i painted dwarf bronze on top of mithril silver, and then washed with two layers of agrax earthshade. One layer of wash didnt dull the metallic enough.
Bronze areas were highlighted with mithril silver.

Finished up necron lord. Airbrushed with Createx gloss coat and then matte coat. I like the results.

Next thing on my list is to do a batch of 20 warriors.

Base coated warriors and immortals. Painted shoulderpads bronze, and placed them on a carousel of DOOOOOOOM! MUAH HA HA HA!

Next step is to wash them, paint eyes, and base.

I am back to warhammer! Yay!.

Hit a rough patch in life so all creativity evaporated. But now I am good and eager to get back.

First things first, I did spring cleaning in my room and hobby area. Took a while to go through crap that I piled up for years.

Couple days ago, I cut out squares in a cardboard to support ever-tipping minis on corks. Today decided to finish up washing my warriors.

I was never very excited about the pilots in the necron fliers. After searching the internet for ideas and pillaging my bits, I came up with a design that i like. I used praetorian back, lychguard shield, and wraith head.

Next step is to green stuff the cockpit here and there. After that, I am planning to airbrush rest of the primered models.

Have been building and magnetising command/anihilation barge. So many bits for such model size.

Last sunday picked up third flier on sale at FLGS. Gonna finish magnetising and assembling it and then will move on to modifying cockpits of 2 fliers.

Have been assembling and magnetising my third flier.

Stripped unsuccessful paint job from one of my fliers.

Decided to continue where I left off with immortals. Cleaned up and magnetised tesla carbines. Turns out magnets in the wrists were sufficient enough and I didnt need them in the shoulders.

I like the look of 3 fliers together . Only thing left is to make cockpits for two of them.

Started working on 4th lord. I cut up two voidblades and put them on the shoulders. Add greenstuff and it will look great.

Put together 4th lord.

Now that all assembly is done, I can move on to painting.

Couple days ago sat down and base coated all of the models that have been primered.

Unfortunately, while moving them from box to box, I lost one of the claws on a wraith. I ended up with two choices: either try to make my own or buy a wraith model just to use one bit. Good thing I had some blustuff laying around so I used it to make a mold for a claw. Mixed some greenstuff with more yellow than green to pick up the details. I was surprised how good it came out. Only issue was the fact that it was thicker than plastic one, but because it sits under other ones, it is not noticeable.

Next thing is to paint bronze parts and apply wash.

Back to the hobby . Cant believe it has been half a year since I stopped.

On black friday got several models from LFGS.

Finished basecoats and washes on wraiths and tesla carbines. Tried out color scheme for flyer.

Will start detailing them soon. That will be a good time to try out my new Badger Renegade Chrome. Got it specifically to save time on painting light sources.
