So I came into some Craftworld Jetbikes off a trade, but little did I know that they were missing the bases! I figure this is an opportunity to do something really cool with their bases, to give them a very dynamic, flying look. Before I started trial and error, though, I thought it would be best to see if anyone has tried this before. Interesting flying bases with sprue? Bits and pieces of things found around the house?
I'd love to see/hear about any ideas or examples anyone has done!

I personally never use the clear plastic bases on my flying minis - I always use either a 50mm or 60mm black GW base instead so my army looks more cohesive.
Here's an example (although the model does come with a blacl base, but you get the idea...) -

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I was thinking something like that as well. However, I don't even have the plastic stick things that hold them up. I was thinking something like have it flying by some ruins and discreetly touching them here or there, which is where I would glue it.
By the way, I love that model you posted!

heavy gauge wire works for flying stands too. I've been thinking of doing something similar with my jetbikes whe nI get back around to them. Flying over a rock and pinning deep into the model.

I use regular bike bases for my jetbike bases. Just add a flying stand and off you go.

Here's what I did with my old RT era jet bikes. Just two pins from base to bike. I'm running these as normal bikes so I mounted them close to the ground. You can adjust the angle of the bikes nose to tail or side to side, and you can adjust the height as well.

Thanks for the input! I think I'm going to try something like regular 25mm bases but then have sprue coming out that I carve into a wraithbone looking type construct that unobtrusively supports the Jetbike. Kind of like the Bonesinger model, just not quite as directly supported by the wraitbone

Tony sells flying bases, I've bought some from him before. When I get back I'll see if I have some extras. Otherwise you could buy one stand which comes with two rods and use a normal 40mm base under it and get two for the price of one

I may do that. I'll show you my test model for the wraithbone idea, probably at Bangarang, so you can see what you think. If it turns out nice, I might do them all that way because it fits my army's aesthetic better than just clear plastic.

You can use lots of different things for the flying stands;

Acrylic rod from a craft store, nails, bolts, or heavy gauge wire.
