I am on the fence as to start a massive conversion of my Space Wolves/ Black Templars into chaos for the upcoming codex release, but i am facing several problems. Is the Codex going to be as strong as the current space wolf one? How much conversion is required to make it plague bearers, or korn bezerkers acceptable? Will i be okay without any chaos-only models like defilers or daemon princes? I have a lot of marines and could make tones of Lords or Warlock-dudes or whatever, (Emperors champion and rune priests respectively) but would that be enough?

The best thing you can do is wait for the CSM codex to come out and then go from there. No one can really tell you how strong/weak it is as no one knows.

1. No one knows what will be in the next Chaos codex, so telling you to do it or not would be silly. Wait and see.

2. Are you talking about taking your existing 4000+ worth of Space Wolves and/or Black Templars that you have listed in your signature and converting them?

Wolves are a very solid dex by any measure. Switching armies whenever a hotter codex is out can be a bit of a pain, unless you really like converting, in which case go right ahead!

Just be careful. You'll be called out for chasing after the Flavor of the Month a fair bit.

Are your wolves a counts as army already?

No they are legit wolves, i just got templars (trade) and was wondering if i was going to initiate a mass chaos conversion, or just change the templars to wolves, i'll wait for the codex then see how it goes, thanks guys.

Just make sure all of the Black Templar crosses are gone if you make them Chaos. No Black Templar has ever been documented as having fallen to Chaos.

Every SM chapter has had members fall to Chaos, the only one per current fluff is the GK.
