Hi all.

I have found a good deal on Ebay for some Imperial Guard heavy weapons teams, which are a good deal cheaper than Ork big gunz.

My question is, would it be ok for me to buy a few of these sets, and re-modell them IG guardsmen to resemble orks and orkify the guns up a bit?

As far as i can tell the dimensions of the guns are pretty much the same as their orky brethren and so would not affect cover rules etc?

I do know orks have a tradition of capturing and modifying weaponry from other races, but i'm not so sure how far i can stretch this and still be able to play with these in a gmaeplay/torunament setting.

Cheers for any and all advice.

CC.

Thematically there would be no problem with orkified IG guns being used by Orks, they are scavengers and pirates par excellence afterall.

That said IG Heavy Weapons are rather long and may look a little daft even for Orks. They are long enough that I swapped mine out for the similar but smaller and more sensibly sized weapons from the Sentinel kit for my HWTs..

I say go for it. I don;t thik you'd get away with using the Guard crew for them, but they could easily be replaced by Grots. If you wanted to use the Guard as crew they would have to be ragged looking slaves overseen by an appropriate Orky overseer. No helmets, beat up armour, ragged clothing.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

The only excessively large weapon is the heavy bolter. All of the other weapons can be cut down to size by shortening the barrel.
For the missile launcher, cut the ends off of the weapon (the cap at the back), then cut off the length you don't want on it, and stick the ends back on.
Autocannon: Barrel shortening should be straight forward
Lascannon: you'll need to do a bit more snipping, but it will still work. That said, the LC has a massive stock/body whatever you wish to call it, I've still not found a reasonabe solution for this.
Mortart: Mount the legs on a grot, and the butt-plate on an orc's shoulder. Instant missile launcher.
You can do about the same thing with multilasers and stubbers as well. If you converted your sentinels to "run on electric power", then the snipped-off smoke-stacks can be slapped on to just about anything to turn it into something that has dakka.

Yeah that works. I was thinking they will be too big as a big shoots or snaz gun that an ork was holding.
