So I was on the precipice of buying the Imperial Sector box when I realised the price had just been hiked to £70 (am I right in thinking it was £51 but days ago??) so I'm looking on eBay, and this seeeeeeems attractive:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WARHAMMER-IMPERIAL-SECTOR-IMPERIAL-SANCTUM-BOXES-LOTS-OF-BUILDING-PARTS-MORE-/330745919926?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item4d01fe39b6

But as I've never bought any of the CoD buildings I honestly don't know if there's bits missing (I can handle some of it being already made). If someone could look it over for me and see if I'm getting a decent deal here or the short shrift that'd be fab.

Yes there's a bunch missing (you can see a lot of empty spaces on the sprues), the buyer even mentions it not being a complete set.

However, if the shipping is not too bad (I'd just ask the seller to leave out the boxes, those'll make the shipping skyrocket) I don't think it's a bad deal.

www.timblom.com for all your illustrative needs.

The link You've given is BIN at 19.99 GBP. I don't think this is a con, rather as the seller suggests is it quite incomplete and You'd have to be quite familiar with the box contents to get an idea what You can actually build from available sprues.
As a rule of thumb, I am generally keeping away from incomplete boxes / assembled kits, since getting the missing components sometimes will cost You more than buying original kit.

And yeah, like TiB suggested ask the seller if he will ship without those boxes (15 GBP is a bit too steep for contents) - probably he won't as he expects to get extra cash from shipping (like listing separate items, charging separate shipping and then combining the package).

If you're after an imperial sector then maybe the missing bits are a deal breaker. But if all you want to do is whomp up some scenery then the missing bits could easily be replaced by cheap alternatives and you've got a bargain.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Ah right, thanks everyone. I did only just realise that I was reading the details for two different sales so I think I confused myself. This is the other: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warhammer-40K-Scenery-Imperial-Sector-Half-Built-On-Sprues-/160823563161?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item2571d4d399 and a hefier price indeed.

How's about this guy, selling four different grab bags? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Games-Workshop-Imperial-City-Sector-set-of-parts-A-17-pieces-/221025911977?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item33762bc4a9

They're all £4:99 plus £1:50 p&p. Sounds alright to me...

Slightly related, are you by any chance familiar with Pegasus Gothic Building sets? They're very similar to CoD buildings, comes into plastic and are so much cheaper compared to GW ones.

Even more unrelated - heartserenade are You familiar with Pegasus products? In particular, their river set? If yes, any feedback perhaps?

Back on "slightly related" topic - GF9 Battlefield in a Box has some decent Gothic Ruined Buildings.

Also, guttersnipe, have You checked this one?

To slightly extend the (possibly useful) derail, while I think the Pegasus kits are a good deal, I wouldn't exactly call them "very similar." The wall sections are comparatively plain, tech/time/setting neutral, and devoid of grimdark/proprietary icon bling. A viable alternative, definitely, but not really a valid replacement. All depends on what the OP is after.

True. But then again, I prefer more practical design than GW's over-the-top design aesthetic. I think it's gothic enough and can be used for grimdark-y settings without one million skulls in the building's facade. As for tech, I see it as a conversion opportunity if you want it to look more 40k (add pipes, maybe?).

No, only familiar with their Gothic buildings, sorry CainTheHunter.

Well OP, just saying Pegasus Gothic Buildings are one thing to consider. Wouldn't hurt your table too if you both have GW kits and Pegasus kits.

Hmmm, this Pegasus stuff is very interesting indeed, thanks for the recommendation there. I'm leaning towards cheapness here, so their stuff seems like a good bet right now. And thanks for that link, Cain, I could certainly make us of lamps and ladders if nothing else; it's nice to know I can obtain some bits at reasonable cost.
Can anyone vouch for those grab bags? I mean, can I actually make something from, say, two of them? I should have probably specified sooner that I needn't actually replicate GW's CoD buildings, I can be creative if the parts allow.

Even if I have all the money in the world, I'd still buy the Pegasus ones over GW's, mainly because I loathe the GW's "moar skullzzzz" concept. I just finished assembling a Garden of Morr and man, that's a lot of skulls. I covered most of them with sand and flock but you'd wonder why are there so many skulls: do they have a skull farm? Why just skulls and not the rest of the bones? Why are all skulls (even the "accidentally there" ones) facing forward? Sadly, those questions will remain unanswered.

I have a feeling that GW is behind this LotR deleted scene:
