Not sure if this is a warmachine discussion or a computer game discussion, I figure since some 40k game threads show up in 40k discussion, and a warmachine game is more likely to be known about by people in this area, I'll put it here until a mod decides it doesn't belong anymore.

So my question is, when is this to be released? I've googled it and the closest I could find was a thread from somewhere else (not dakka) talking about it and saying that it is coming 'december', but that there has been no new news for 7 months and that there was nothing new at E3 this year.

Do any of you warmachine guys know different?

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Thanks for the support Beatnik. We sort of learned this lesson with the demo we originally showed of our vertical slice, which was likely pulling the trigger a bit too early. We figured the hardcore fans wouldn't mind seeing the project as early as we could show it to them, but now it seems that we drummed up excitement only to have people think we've gone vaporware on them when the advancement of the project doesn't exactly meet their expectations. This is an iterative process, and not only does it take a long time to make a game, it can take a long time to get the right publisher on board. This project is most assuredly not dead, folks

Which is developer marketspeak for it's on hold since there's no external funding or marketing channels yet. It's not big enough of a title to draw the attention of Satan (EA) or Lucifer (Activision) and it looks like a steampunk knockoff of Gears of War to the average video gamer who's not into TTG.

I was wondering about this too. Can't wait to see more of it!

They released some footage WAAAY too early. They are still working on it, but the early builds were just to show fans it was in the works.

It will come, but in time.

Their only product is a FtP MMO wierd sci-fi action sidescroller thing. They didn't show it early for fans, they showed it early to try to fish funding for it. Small dev house, niche video game product, no publisher. The deck is stacked against it sadly. No publisher means they're funding development themselves which means they're on the hook for funding and they have to get something out the door. This also does not bode well for it being a quality game. It may still be going but it's not going quickly without $$ behind it and they are having to pay PP licensing fees. No news on their site or on their blog. Not at all promising.

As of this moment we cannot confirm any details with regards to platform and/or particular distribution channels. Also, as I imagine a newly established 4 post profile might bring out the skeptic in most, I'll look into getting a validation shot of me in the studio together this evening.

Edit: On an additional note, it's not just the Cygnar players that are gonna have a lot to be excited about

Competitive multiplayer will in fact be a very important part of the experience, and is actually the focus of my position on the design team.

Our interpretation of the way a Warcaster should feel when played is drawn from both the fluff and their personal style on the tabletop, but we're not attempting to make an experience that is completely analogous to the tabletop game. This is a game about being a Warcaster, as opposed to controlling an army which includes a Warcaster, and is a different way to step into the Iron Kingdoms and experience the world. Warcasters need to be made a bit sturdier considering the new context, lest they get blown into space every time one is charged by a few iron fang pikemen, or worse. While tactical decisions are still very important, the line between a player's intention and the actualization of that intention in the game needs to be strung up in real time, as you shouldn't expect to be provided large windows within which to pause and plan in a multiplayer experience.

Keep the questions coming. I'll be joining in on a roundtable discussion in a podcast with the guys from Game Empire soon, and they'll be drawing from the questions here for a short Q&A session about the game.
