I played a 5 BW list yesterday

2 big meks

18 boys nob PK BP
18 boys nob PK BP
19 boys nob PK BP

5 nobs wound shenanigans
5 nobs wound shenanigans

5 BW's - rollas grot riggers plates RPJ bshoota

2 dakka jets extra supashoota

I don't really know what to do with this list I played a necron player that had 7 of the nightscythes and doomscythes and had barely any troops and I was just kind of shut down. I could kill armor the boys got smacked around it just didn't work well
I'm trying to get my orks ready for a big team tourney and I'm just at a loss for what to do with these orks. I hear kan wall works well but I don't have many kans but I can get them. I just don't know where to take these lists so that I don't look at the table and go...man I don't even want a piece of that...
What can I do to improve my orks ability to get to the fight in a wagon list is it more shooting or where do I need to go? I'm just stumped and a little discouraged (mind you the games yesterday were like my 4th 5th 6th games) just kinda lost =/

You played a nercon player with lots of fast vehicles, of course you are going to have trouble, orks don't like having to deal with needing 6's to hit.

Your best bet was to try to deffroller down the doomscythes or shoot them with your (normally reserved) dakka jets. After that just try to mop up.

I would suggest taking one nob unit of 10 or so, in groups of 5 they don't have lots of power.

Would you only take 4 wagons and use those points elsewhere? I couldn't touch them and he only had 3 scoring units...I lost 4 wagons turn 2...I just didn't know what to do and I didn't know if it was my list or where I can improve...

I would try to fit some Lootas into your list. They can only glance the Necron vehicles but they can still kill/immobilize them.

Doom Scythes? They're only AV11, Lootas can penetrate that.
But yes I agree that you should find space for some.

Short answer, you need Lootas. They are by far the best fire support option in the codex (mostly by default, as everything else is terrible in this regard) and they give you a way of slowing down his fast vehicle army so you can actually catch it and kill it. Its not just the 6's to hit, its the fact that Orks can't damage Necrons vehicles at all without a Klaw since they are AV11 rear.

Personally I'm not sure if 5 Wagons is a great idea because it forces you in to a very specific build. A single KFF Mek (I'm assuming both those Meks have KFF btw, if they don't that's a huge hole in this list) is enough to easily give cover to 3 Wagons possibly with a 4th hiding behind. However once you hit 5 Wagons you basically have to take 2 Meks to ensure that you can cover all of them with a KFF. In turn this means you can't take a Warboss (who is a very good source of anti tank with the S10 Klaw) which means you don't get scoring Nobz. Nobz in your Elite slots make it harder to fit in Lootas etc which the list really needs.

The Dakka Jets are passable, but I would probably aim for a squad or two of Lootas before you take a Jet (more reliable/higher S firepower and harder to kill).

My suggestion to start with would be to combine the Nobz, drop a Wagon and a Mek and add a Warboss. This gives you a single rock unit for people to deal with and overall probably boosts your damage output (a Warboss is basically as good as a Rolla against vehicles but much more dangerous against infantry). After this you are basically just trying to squeeze in some Lootas, which could include dropping Dakka Jet/s to fit them in. You could also consider dropping the 4th Wagon as well and replacing it with a Truck unit (or even 2 Truck units, not sure on the points). Extra points could go into a Grot unit (just reserve them and grab an objective) and Boarding Planks (definitely worthwhile on a Wagon with a Warboss in it).

It wasn't just the necron game =/ I had problems getting to the wolves player which was my first game all of the terrain on the board makes my wagons HAVE to split up and I just get picked apart. I do like the idea of the lootas for sure. if I drop the 5th wagon it's 135 points maybe 140 for the nobs I can't remember and the two jets were like 250 which frees up close to 400 points for whatever I need. Would you do 9 nobs and a WB? I just needed more damage turn two I would just get stopped. No more going up field. I thought about going to a kan wall or a green tide list but I don't know how well those will do and I like the idea of flash gits but I'm not sure about them I'm just lost lol.
I've had lootas in the list before but it had 2 wagons of meganobs and they got JOTWW'd as soon as they got out of their wagons.
Needless to say my orks experiences have been very discouraging...love duh boys just really hard for me I suppose...

the dakka jet is still up in the air but the consensus is at least one warphead is needed to make them worth it.

**Damn GW as if orks didnt have enough issues with the FOC
nobs vs lootas
kans vs wagons
warboss vs big mek vs warphead

Personally i find nobs to be unsatisfying. They are far to powerful. They basically scream kill me or lose the game. Yet they die in drones because of the attention they get. Plus their not cheap.

I run a grot can list.
3 wagons with plates ard case deff rolla riggers and big shoota
3x10 grots to go inside
1 big mek to go inside
wazdakka
3 warbiker units
15-45 lootas
3-9 rokkit buggies

Dont let your opponent split you. You want to have what orks need. a single unified strike. Your best games will have 1 turn you can point to as the majority of your attack.

I'm just extremely new and it's bad...I let myself get funneled and stop by dreads with 3 BW's and two got caught up behind them. And yeah I agree they're just kind of meh I would like to try nobs on bikes...I dunno I'm just so lost on these orks lol I want to take a winning list but it's hard. I have 30 lootas would you suggest getting the full 45? I don't have kans either but it's either kans and dreads or bikes and some extra bits...
I think I've got to much tied up in the wagons and the jets were VERY lackuster in their survivability and I didn't know they were TL until my last game was over...

Actually, even though Bikes are not viable AV, you could always try Rokkit Buggies or Deffkoptas with TL Rokkits. Either one gives you a decently priced Fast platform with TL Rokkits.

They're not great in terms of sheer firepower, but they have fabulous mobility, especially Deffkoptas, because you can Turbo boost during the Scout move before the first turn. That's 24" before the movement phase.

Also, you may want to consider using Lootas, because the rulebook says Fast skimmers that move flat out suffer a destroyed result on any immobilized result. So he may get the cover save, but if he moves flat out he can be subject to being destroyed by lower strength models.

Which actually increases your chance to destroy them by a little over 50% with Lootas

Lootas are also generally great fire support and useful in any TAC list
