Subject: Stacking Multiple Might of Titans and Hammerhands
|
 |
Longtime Dakkanaut
|
Say I have two Grey Knight Librarians, each with Might of Titan and Hammerhand, and they've joined a terminator squad.
Can each of the Librarians cast MOT and Hammerhand, then the termies cast hammerhand, for a total of +5 strength to each model in the unit?

I know Hammerhand stacks, but I'm not sure about MoT.

GW's core book FAQ states they stack unless specifically stated otherwise. Might does not include such a statement. It stacks.

Doesn't the basic rulebook state that psykers can only cast one power per turn, unless stated otherwise?

Grey Knight Librarains are Mastery Level 2, so they can each cast two psychic powers per turn.

Or mastery 3, if you pay a bunch of points!

Yes a lowly Mon-keigh can cast two psychic powers for free. So much for the vaunted Eldar psychic mastery...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Eldar can also do so without blowing their brains out and having their soul ripped apart by demons.
And they can make sure anyone nearby does.

While it all stacks, it's still stupid. Now it's only on one unit of terminators, too bad NO ONE brings PLASMA.

They get to cast 2 powers, get a 3+ "ignore" as well as 3 wounds, and get to help ensure that mon-keigh likely fails AND eats a wound.

It's not really free. GK Librarians are 150 base, before buying powers, as opposed to SM librarians who are 100pts and come with two powers, and have to pay 50 for the ability to cast two in the same player turn. GK libbies get terminator armor for free (sort of), in this equation, but it limits their flexibility in terms of what transports they can ride in, and they don't have the option of taking a cool cheap psyker with hood for only 100 like the other SM codices.
Thankfully; because these factors and the attractiveness of other HQs (Crowe, Coteaz, Draigo, and Grandmasters are all amazing) mean that many (even most) GK armies don't bring a librarian, so don't have a good or as many scary psychic powers as they could.

I'm really not upset about it, I just needed an excuse to refer to a human as a Mon-keigh.

Eldar have no room to complain, look at Chaos Sorcerors.
Ideally the unholy power of the chaos gods becomes something other than a joke soon.
Chaos psychic powers should be high risk high reward rather than high risk probably no reward like now.
I miss Talisman of Tzeentch and Psychic Duel meaning a -2 to leadership for all psychic tests for enemy psykers on the battlefield and Warp Blade causing enemy psykers to perils on a 4+.
Oh and automatically passing psychic tests on our two psychic abilities per player turn.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.
