I need some advice about magnets. simple sentence a lot of meaning.

okay folks ill put it simple, i want to magnetise some wings for my chaos sorcerer and the legs and weapons for my two defilers but i dont know where to start,

i was recommended by some nice chaps from one of my local stores to use Neodymium magnets (also the website www.guymagnets.com[yes i realise just how wrong that sounds but its a fairly easy site to use and it seems cheep as well and it is PURELY ABOUT MAGNETS!]), okay fair enough they have a very strong attraction (and also used in plate form in HDD if i recall correctly?) but other than that i have no idea what im doing, what size to i use? presumably using disks or rings would be the best choice since its easier to create a seat for it in plastic, and what about size to weight held? im confused, is it possible for it to work like resistance in series, the collective holding up more? (on about the defilers legs), but honestly im confused out my head about all of this so please any help will be greatly appreciated

to see the wings click here

otherwise its two defilers that will need magnetising on each leg and secondary weapon

I would recommend checking out themanufactorum.com. He doesn't have instructions for defiler but if you look at the instructions for say the dreadnaught, you might get an idea.

Neodymium is the best way to go, for the price they are rather strong and have great holding capacity.

I'd go with discs most likely and last time I did magnetise things I did in fact use discs, they are very easy to counter sink so that they have no impact on how the parts of the model sit together.

If you are using something like the possessed wings for your Chaos sorcerer, one or two pairs 2mm x 1mm discs will be suitable. Just sink them into where the backpack would go, and then a pair in the pack and you're golden.

As for the defiler, I'd probably still use the 2 x 1 mm magnets, as from what I remember the mountings (namely the bracket that holds the havoc launcher or autocannon and close combat weapon) on the weapons are a little bit different between them, two or three per arm would work easily.
