Hey there, I know this is only tangentially related to tabletop games, but!!!

These guys are working on a turn-based (!) strategy game that bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain 6mm sci-fi GW game you may be familiar with.

Exodus Wars: Fractured Empire

The alpha vids are pretty barebones, but the stretch goals (though maybe unreachable) promise what could be a pretty interesting game, and satisfies a hunger that has gone unfulfilled (for me, at least) since Final Liberation in 1997. The basic level pledge for a copy of the game is only $10, which should be a laughable amount of money to some of the hobbyists on this forum, so Space Marine/Epic fans should give some serious thought to throwing some money their way.

The game is apparently based on the Exodus Wars 6mm game (which I am unfortunately familiar with)

sorry if this is old news/inappropriate (being, as it is, a video game), but it's a faux pas I'm willing to make if it gets them some more attention.

I think it got a thread down in the video games section.

Is there any small company in the game industry left that DIDN't make a kickstarter/Indiegogo campaign in the last 3 months?

Does it bother you that much?

edit.

Just to clarify, not attacking you, just curious.

I can see his point, it's almost become like a bandwagon to jump on (Ward Hate for example).

Back on topic, I like the look of this. Consider me pledged!

the problem for me is that 'multiplayer' is something I do around a table, not in front of a screen. so I'd need the 2nd pledge goal to be passed to get some use out of this (when they say $50.000 has a 'basic' AI you can be sure that won't be much fun to play against). since this is a rather niche project, and they've put it on indiegogo instead of kickstarter which for a PC game doesn't help either, I'm skeptical as to whether this will make it to $100.000.
ergo, that'd be $10 down the drain for me if it ends 35000<pledged><100000 which it probably will.
there's likely a lot of folks who figure pretty much the same and won't pledge until it gets close to 100K either.
I know, that mentality doesn't help but many of us don't like flushing money down the toilet..

oh, and the basic game costing $10 won't help either; there aren't many high-level pledges which would appeal to a decent number of folks so you'd need seriously many pledgers to get anywhere near some decent stretch goals...

Hi Thomas. Thanks for your comments.

Understand where you're coming from—EW:FE isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, and there are doubtless many who think as you do.

We're pitching the game to wargamers, but also to the wider computer gaming community. And while we acknowledge we need to see a lot of contributions coming in to reach $35,000 at the $10 perk level, our hope is that this low perk cost will enable more players from all walks to contribute and get our game.

Hi there. For simplicity, we're now answering questions in this thread—it's easier with the conversation's in one place. Hope that's cool.

I'm going to lock this as the other thread is a bit more developed (and plus it links to my front page plug).
