I have too many expensive hobbies

Gaming (40k, WHFB, getting SW, mantic stuff, have warmachine, blackwater gulch ect)
Firearms (and prefer HK... pistols are about $1000 new retail)
Golf (holy god expensive)
Cars (ever replace every piece of a car other than the unibody? gets expensive)

edit also add in being a member of the Jaycees, and on the executive board of the local chapter, and traveling around other chapters, full time student, and working 2 jobs.

Whatever works within your schedule. I play 40k and Dust Warfare, have a wife and a son, play 2 instruments, practice Jiu-jitsu, and volunteer with the Boy Scouts and Knights of Colomubs. But Im not a student anymore either. Its astounding how much stuff you can do when you recognize how much dead time you really have, and how to mangage that. I enjoy watching moives...but I do it while I paint/play/read now etc.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

Mt. Bike in the summer. (Three days a week)
Snow Boarding in winter. (Two days a week, every other weekend)
Wargaming about once a month.
GM a D&D game about once a month.
Play in a D&D game about twice a month.
Painting and modeling some week nights.
Cooking with the wife several week nights.

My life schedule is more or less full 365 days a year.

I actually have to schedule down time where I don't have a single plan and can just chill out and do "nothing".

I work full time so I don't have time for more than two big timesink hobbies. 40k is my main hobby, but I play videogames too much. I make cartoons for fun but I don't do it regularly enough to be a hobby. I used to play guitar but I dropped that so I could make time for animation, which was my major in college.

Wargaming / Modelling (40k, WFB, WMHD)
Videogames (diablo / wow, no others)
Family (wife, cooking together / ballroom dancing / hobbying together, extended family) *sometimes you take the grenade of dancing to earn time for wargaming*
Poker (tournments, goto atlantic city 3-4x per year to play in poker rooms)
Beer pong (tournments) seriously, they are awesome

Visiting different sporting event parks (I like stadiums and sporting events, I try to goto 1 new stadium per year for the last 5 years and make it a weekend vacation)~ Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cinncinatti. Any suggestions for next? I was thinking Dallas, San Fran, or Seattle next year, no preference for sport.

Formerly MMA, injured at a competition, spooled this time into WoW / Warhammer.

i'm lucky enough to make a living from surfing and painting display minis, so i don't have any hobbies...
i would still be painting and surfing even if i wasn't doing it for money, so they would be my hobbies, but then i'd have to get a real job...
no thanks!!!

whatever makes you happy is never a waste of time, but i definitely feel like there are not enough hours in the day...

cheers

I do a moderate amount of modelling and painting (with a bit of gaming here and there), but my main hobby is running. Tend to do between 20 and 30 miles a week including a race every other week or so, which annoys Mrs Flashman far more than toy soldiers ever will.

Photography.
Painting and playing with mandolliies and the terrain to go with them. I do not "warhammer", I wargame. I play more games than GW's "hobby". If I listed each of them as a hobby, it would be a list 2 pages liong.

I used to play guitar but can't play it anymore - I bisected the nerve in my thumb in an accident so I gave it up and sold it.

Have a PS2 and haven't played it in about 3 months. No game younger than 3 years old on it anyway - but they are the games I like. I've never been a "hardcore" gamer.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Entirely to many hobbies for me, find myself torn between painting, gaming and just buying tons of mini’s when I should be doing other things.
My hobbies are restoring old Saabs, racing one of my Saabs, collecting 40K stuff, wood working, gardening, hiking (I have 100 acres)
I also play WM Cygnar & Menoth, Dystopian wars…. I always run out of hours in a day….
Then there is my job....

For The Greater Good….. says who?

I'm pretty simple - I work strange hours and all over the world, so I can't really schedule anything regular.

I guess my only 'hobby' is gaming, and I pretty much only play 40k, since I can find a game pretty much anywhere. I take small modelling projects with me when I go away for work. I don't, and never really have, played video games.

I used to play bass/keyboards in bands, and toured as a musician for a good few years, but I haven't done anything musically for the last two years. It's hard to commit to a regular band when you can never be sure when you'll be able to play a gig!!

I work to much to be able to have more than 1 or 2 things I do diligently. So I play warhammer and train to fight. That's about it. My wife, daughter, and work take up 90% of my time. I haven't played Xbox, played in a band, or done Anything else that used to take all my time and energy for almost 2 years. In fact I only picked wargaming back up his past January. Because I needed something other than getting punched in the face to keep me sane.

I work in one of the Big 4 consulting firms, which leaves little time for anything else. I try and get in 2 hours at the gym every other day, maybe get in 30 mins of Diablo, but that's pretty much it right now.

And when my son comes along, well, I think I'll be working two jobs but only get paid for one .

I wargame, and I play MTG. I also play the occasional roleplaying game, usually D+D or SLA Industries if there's a game going.

I play guitar/sing in a band. I sing in another band. Practice room costs is pretty expensive.

Thats about it really, I live a simple life.

Paintball. I'm a woodsballer through and through, so I'm one of those guys in the tiger-stripe camo with the rusty Tippmann 98 that comes screaming out of the trees.

Starting up karate again. Did a good 11 years of it, and then a break for the past 2-3 years. Once the next semester starts up, I'm joining the college's club.

Well, my hobby is just 40k. It keeps me busy all the time with painting and whatnot. Once in a month I'm organizing an RTT for the store owner. The rest of the time is work, family, and cycling.

Wargaming and Living History (and related to that, HEMA). I am not sure regular boardgaming with the wife and friends counts as a "hobby", nor computer gaming.

I also doubt my 3-45min x 2 bike ride to work and back all year round count as a "hobby", although I sure do it religiously.

They have a black powder season?

That's awesome, although I guess it doesn't involve lines of redcoats gunning down deer in disciplined vollies as they charge you, which makes it slightly less awesome

Myself...

Gaming (on Xbox)
More Gaming (40k and LOTRSBG)
Even more Gaming (PnP RPGs)
Still more gaming (board games)
Scout leader for the local cub pack
Motorbiking, although not too fat as it's only a 125cc
And unpaid slave labour for my mum when she can wiggle it in between everything else

Hunting - expensive to start, but costs tend to go down after a while. Only so much you need to buy.
Fishing - like hunting, but costs tend to stay up cause you want to keep getting those $8 lures...
Wargaming - Nough said
Video Games - I've really been trying to not buy any that cost more then $20 lately, but will do the occasional $60 purchase

I have 2 young children and a grumpy Mrs, one hobby is too many!

Wargaming, the odd computer strategy game, playing Rugby, watching Arsenal, the list goes on.

In reality I barely even have time to combat middle age spread (I realy need to!), Hobby time is a rarity for a while at least.

I've got 2.3 children right now, but my wife is still cool about giving me time for my hobbies. I struck absolute gold with her.
