Subject: Maelock and the Journey man League

Been Around the Block

There is a journeyman league in my area starting up soon. and me and the EO/TO are having a slight disagreement, He thinks that black hide wrastler, 2 bull snappers and maelock are to OP for a journeyman league because of maelocks feat (turns all friendly models in his control area incorporeal for a turn) and the synergy with his beasts. I have been running scenarios in my head and I don't think he is OP at all. True he does have an advantage but then again by that logic sorscha is way more OP then maelock. She can just freeze everything so her assassination is almost garented to succeed (assuming the damage rolls are kind) Maelocks assassination run has a very fair chance of failing ASSUMING he even gets his beasts into position to attack, they are very squishy. Also with no infantry to play with he has maybe 2 spells he can use but put him on the front lines.
Just a few more things about the League
1- He is allowing any caster that isn't epic and any list that follows the guidelines for a battle box (ie 2 non character lights and a heavy)
2- the list should aim to be between 11-14 points (thats for custom lists) he is also allowing for basic battle box models to be switched out.
3- He already agreed to let me play that list and I went out and bought the additional models for my list (just a snapper but I barley use the one I already had) then changed his mind when I won a tournament with a gator list (3 posses fething rock)
I want more of an opinion if anyone thinks that maelock is just to OP to run in a journeyman league
wrastler is +9 points
bull snappers are 3 each.
maelock has +6 warbeast points
so that is a total of 9 points for my list.
Already picked up a skorne battle box for the league but I still want some input on it for future refrance

Definitely not OP(which isn't a thing in WM/H to begin with). Maelok's good, but Barnabus(Knockdown>Ethereal when it comes to feats and assassination runs) is better, in my experience. The standard Barnie, Wrastler, and Turtle setup will wreck face, especially against Jacks. You'll find that 2 Snappers don't do a lot but keep giving out their Animus longer.

Barnabas just works better with the army. So...
Barnabas
Wrastler
Snapper
Then a Min or Max Posse, a min will give you 12pts while a max will give you 15pts.
You should get no argument from the EO/TO this is a basic gatormen list, you could also drop the Wrastler for a Spitter with a max posse this will put you at 14pts, this would mean a more utility and ranged threat to your opponent but will have a tougher time with high armor targets.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
-Alexis de Tocqueville. |

Battle box games can't use Solos or Units. Also, Nira, remember that Sorcha, unlike Kreoss and Barnabus, requires LoS to freeze something with her Feat. That wouldn't happen to be you they're talking about on the Minions board would it?
