I'm being told for an event that I'll be going to that a Heirophant Bio-Titan only has a 6++ save, but the Apoc book sitting right in front of me says it has a 3++ save (as per the Warp Field power)

This confusion stems from the warp field psychic power and Apocalpyse being a 4th ed book using a 5th ed codex.
If the TO has ruled it the way you have descibed it then its kinda tough luck.
TBO i agree that it should NOT have a 3++ as its entry anc cost were based on the 4th ed book.
If you read the full warp field power it specifiys that ZOANTHROPES get a 3++... so technically the bio titan can not use it. The old version was a 6++ which could be used by anyone.

OH, well that's fine then. I was wondering since it was ruled that the Mindstrike Missiles on my GK Stormraven's don't cause Perils on a Bio-Titan for the reason that they only have a 6++ save. If that is their invul save I'm fine with that.

Warp Field used to be a psychic power, and now it is just a piece of wargear.
The Hierophant has the Warp Field power (which does nothing currently), it doesn't have the Warp Field wargear.

The Doom of Malan'Tai has Warp Field too. I would personally rule that it has the 3++ save.
The Apocalypse or Apocalypse 2 books from FW might be able to clarify.

The Doom gets a 3++ from warp field because he's a unique Zoanthrope. The Tyranid FAQ specifically addresses this for all "character" versions of the basic tyranid units.

No, he has the warp field *wargear*, not *power*

Really? Because my copy of Apocalypse says that the Hierophant is a Psyker and has the Warp Field power.

No, he was talking about the Doom of Malantai, which has the Warp Field wargear. The Hierophant has the Warp Field POWER, which no longer exists.

Gotcha. Though couldn't you simply substitute the 5th ed Warp field for the old? Like how old Apoc datasheets refer to WBB rather than RP/EL. WBB doesn't exist anymore, but it makes sense to replace one with the other.

Just remember, as a Gargantuan Creature the Heirophant can NOT be affected by ANY psychic power that doesn't have a strength value. So the Warp Field power had no effect on it.

I guess if you really want to be technical, The Doom has the Warp Field special rule, not wargear.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.
