Greetings Dakkanauts!
My name is Sarpedons-Right-Hand, and I'm a Football Manager Addict.
There, I said it.....
I lay awake at night thinking of my best XI, or a killer new strategy ( 4-6-0 does not work!). This morning I was awake at 4am, just so I had enough time to finish the current season before I had to go to work. If anyone is interested I have just taken FC United of Manchester into the Blue Square Premeirship. This game is evil, it has been cited in 35 divorce cases as the main reason for the breakup, and has even caused an emergency on a medical/surgical ward after a patient set off his personal alarm whilst celebrating the winning goal in the FA Cup final on a smuggled laptop!
But I can't help myself, if any of you guys and gals out there have been addicted to a video game, I'd like to hear about it. Think of it as catharsis......

Mount and Blade is my latest addiction... the game is liquid cocaine. I literally had to setup a script on my computer to shut it down at a certain time every night so I'm not a zombie in the morning. That cold heartless computer doesn't care if I'm in the middle of a castle seige, it gives me a 1 minute warning that off it goes.

I played World of Warcraft for over three years... from when I'd get home from school to 1am every schoolnight... on weekends it'd be midday to about 2 or 3. That game *is* evil.

Dude, I can honestly not think of a more boring game than Football manager. I tried it once at a friend's house, and honestly, if there was a simulator for driving a bus through the middle of the desert, it would be more fun IMHO
Don't know how you guys are so into it, and I was totally flabbergasted when I saw how many people were playing it on STEAM. Now ARMA II, I could get addicted to that if I had good internet and didn't have to take my laptop to somewhere with wifi to game online. Sadly, my home gaming is limited to RPGs and endless hours of Vassal 40k...
Also pretty much any Bethesda game, from Morrowind to Fallout, I find to be quite addicting. I can't really get into an MMO though. But when Planetside 2 comes out I'm sure I will be completely and utterly addicted to that game.

Say what you will about Football Manager dude, it is a true Phenom....
Hell, I've clocked around 450 hours of playing time on the latest incarnation, and I still can't get enough. Which is weird, 'cos it's basically a colourful spreadsheet with some right dodgy 3D match effects thrown in for good measure!!
But any game that has been cited in 35 cases of divorce demands attention. People are all different though huh? I can't for the life of me get to like Minecraft, that is one addiction that has passed me by completely......

Yeah. This. I've played all the way through F:NV several times-- at least once for each different possible ending-- so four times on regular. I've also completed the game (with all the DLC) at least twice on Hardcore.

Used to be huge into video games, to the point where it negativly affected my school work. After Shogun 2 I quit playing games, that itch is still there though but I feel better; no more all night game sessions, no more wasted weekend days. They're too efficient at killing time for me.

I was hugely addicted to playing RTS games like the old Dawn of War and Starcraft 2. I play them every so often but my big addiction now is Minecraft., the most open game ever!

I played football manager 2005 to death!
The little cheat you could do was having another account as a manager of another side and force them to lose against yours, or give their best players to you.
I mean your team sucked for a while though, since they never aged or died or whatever (Not in my edition, can't remember if I modded) I just picked the players with the best surnames and trained them to become the best.
Good game...
