Good Day ALL!

Quick Question:

Does anyone know of ANY kit or anything that comes with a power sword (or something very similar to it) that DOESNT have the hand attached, covering the handle?

And a brief explanation:
Im converting some Heresy-era Dark Angels with a combination of DA robed bodies, Chaos arms/shoulderpads/backpacks. I'm hoping to slap the handle and a small portion of the sword of itself to backpacks and the like, sort of like the sword is stabbed in the top of the backpack, like some of the DA kits. I imagine this would be the easiest way to achieve this conversion, as opposed to chopping up the backpacks themselves to achieve the same look. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area, couldn't think of where else to post it.

My other thought was to take the blade from the power sword, and hook up some guitar wire or something as a handle, and adorn it with a ball of GS or something...

Anyone got any bright ideas?

THANKS!

Forgeworld SM character uprade kit comes with one, and the Black Templar Upgrade kit comes with few.

I know a lot of Empire fantasy kits come with swords (with no hands) but if you're specifically looking for power swords that won't be much use.

Hope this helps.

Thanks NoBaconz4You!
I think the one in the SM character upgrade kit would be closest to what I'm looking for. But I dont really need/like any of the other bitz in there. I think I'll take a whack at hooking up a plastic-card blade, and an improvised handle of some kind. I figured it was doubtful in the first place, but always worth asking. Maybe the handle from the combat blade bit, slapped onto a power sword blade. IDK.

Any brilliant conversion ideas?

If you want the DA specific backpacks, why not just get them from the bit store? They are generally cheap. $1.5 for 6.

I think FW honour guard kit has Swords. So are the Black Templars Upgrade kits. I believe you can get these bits for a couple of dollar each.

Space Wolves have little knives attached to sheaths with no hands on them. They could possibly work.

The idea is to have the Chaos style backpacks, with the extended vent-things and the spike accents, to match the shoulder pads and arms. I saw a pic somebody did with a squad of what looked like DA vets. They had the robes and hooded "crusader" helmets, but chaos arms/shoulderpads/backpacks and it looked freaking SWEET! I was just trying to brainstorm ways to slap a DA accent on the backpack, cause with the robes and hoods, there isnt really much room to DA-ify them.

Ah I see. How about free-handing DA symbols to their armour?

There's always that lol. If I can't come up with anything clever, we'll just freehand that mess.. although my freehand skills are so-so at best. If I could do both, all the better! We'll just have to toy around a bit I spose.

I think you would be better off using normal swords rather than trying to specifically find power swords. If you want to powerify them it would be easier to put some randomg GS gubbins on the normal swords than fiddle about with plasticard and wire. There must be some diamons section blades in the Fantasty range that would do the trick.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

The BT kit has a sheathed sword. You can combine it with a normal power sword (cut of the blade part of the PW and glue it to the pommel of the sheathed sword). Plus, the BT upgrade pack can be combined with DA sprues and look quite well if you don't mind a bit of filing of chapter-specific icons. Not to metion it's one of the kits where you get two of each special weapons (flamer, melta and plasma) and robes that would work well with normal legs.

Really? I am pretty sure DA upgrade pack doesn't come with special weapons at all.

I was talking about the BT pack. I mentioned you can mix it with a DA army and it won't look out of place once you filed out the chapter symbols.

Ah. My bad. I didn't follow In the picture, it only shows one special weapon set. Are there two in the BT set?

Yeah, there are two of each. Also four power weapons (two swords, two axes), sheathed swords that you can use to represent sheathed power weapons, two powerfists and a whole lot of bolters and chainswords. I guess you can sell the Black-templar specific stuff like Rhino doors and shoulder pads, or trade them for DA ones.

Hmm. That is indeed a cool kit. Well worth the price even with the recent increase.
