so the quality is kinda all over the place but hopefully this gives you guys an idea. I haven't done the eyes yet because I want to buy a new non frayed brush before I do.

consider this a review for the old forgeworld IF decal sheet, it is amazing. Wish it had a bit more variety but other then that great.

but first, guess who won combat against these monsters?!

now onto the small horde I've been painting over the last few months.

and my very proud assault marines!

this veteran, named Actaeon, was on the Eldar raid, spear headed by Lysander himself before he was lost into the warp. At the time he was a common assault marine until one of the vanguard holding a relic thunder hammer, went down. reaching for the weapon he pulled the remainder of his squad through to the end of the successful campaign. Actaeon has chosen to lead his own assault squad, especially to help deadly siege's as vanguard defense and counter assault.

these ones are a lot bluer then the others because of my camera.

thanks guys! hope you like it. I'm working on some tutorials for how I did this version of yellow as soon as it's calm enough to prime.

Some really nice looking models there, nice job!

Favourite one is the biker with the plasma gun!

The dirt effects are pretty good around the wheels! Would you be up for doing a wee tutorial for that? =)

If you are interested in reading a narrative, plot driven battle report I would very much appreciate you checking out "The Red Cuff Rebellion Campaign" here:

it's actually really easy, I can't like the original tutorial I used because of our office firewall. google 'secret weapon miniatures mud tutorial' and it comes right up.

Thank you! I spent a lot of time on these guys, see about getting better pics of my entire army up later on.

Nice work.

I really like the yellow you're using for the army... maybe it's just from the lighting, but usually when I see IF the yellow just feels over the top.

The weathering is looking good too, hope to see more in the future.

Nice job...yellow is such a PITA to get right and yours is certainly striking.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Yellow --- its tough to paint, it tough to weather, its tough to make it look good....but you mananged to do all 3! Fantastic looks Fists army. The decals are great looking as well. Love the background to the vet sgt.....its obvious this is a labor of love army when you devote that type of time to paint it and conjure up some history for them.....excellent work!

Very neat looking models! the weathering on jetpacks looks great. maybe some more of that on the armour here and there?
I hope you'll post some pics of the terminator squad

I love the stench of Gryphonne Sepia in the morning. Smells like... PAINTING!

sure I'll do that this weekend. thanks for all the encouragement you guys. It helps keep me motivated.

I haven't weathered the armor yet because I want to get everything up to this level before I do. I have a bunch of odds and ends AOBR marines I'm going to practice on first.

For some reason I just can't make chipping look realistic, so I rely mostly on wash's. I have powders but I want to test them out more before I throw them on my guys.

Nice work, brother!

Love the scheme you have on the Dread and the helmetless head with all the metal on it (where is it from, may I ask?)

Overall, really nice work with the yellow! I have a (really) small force of IF myself and I must say that the level you have on your models is what I´m hoping to reach with mine

Very nice work, the yellow looks ace. However I'm not a fan of the gentleman holding the severed head with a blunt instrument. Make no sense to me.

Not bad. I just think some more contrast is needed if you want to take them a step further. But hey I'm particular about yellow, we are doing the same chapter...and company

I agree, the terminators where my first test using an airbrush for yellow. They turned out well but I used a very light sepia wash that didn't do the job. now most of my stuff comes out pretty well weathered.

this is my current way to do it. but that'll most likely change now that devlun mud is gone

i like your new style..
and yeah with devlan mud gone it will look a bit different, but if you mix the new brown shade with that black shade in a 2:1 ratio it will come pretty close

yes I have actually, just haven't gotten around to it. I'll most likely do a black trim around the bikes.

I painted a squad of devastators but used the wrong yellow! their very pale yellow but Its already done. as soon as I get my Talons in the mail I'll have pics of them up here as well. Hopefully doing some awsome 6th ed action!

I love well painted Imperial Fists and yours fit the bill perfectly! I really love the Assault Marines, the poses are great. If you are looking for deeper shadows, you make your own wash with glaze mediums, flow aid, and what ever color paint you want. If you put satin varnish on the model first, the capillary action of the paint will suck it into the recesses and you can clean up an excess with alcohol with no damage to the paint.
