Salutations!

This will be my first thread here on Dakka, been lurking for a whil, but thought the time to throw my dice in the pool have arrived.

I´m currently building my Waaagh, but it´s a bit of a slow burner as I´m always trying to better my painting and modelling in general, this Waagh is sort of my measuring stick. I have spent about 16 years in this hobby, but it´s only later that I have taken a interest in modeling and painting in the first hand. And the squad of Bad Moons is what started my relapse into the hobby about two years ago.

"But enough text! This is the Internet, we demand pictures!" I hear you say in your head. So, without further messin about, meet the boys!

I´ll let you meet them in the order they are painted.

First off: The shoota boys! (Sorry about the pic being bigger than necessary, and sorta...bad)

Bit of a close-up on a couple of the "pretty" ones:

Shoota boy, nothing fancy:

Shotgun, baby! (Just a shoota boy as far as the rules go)

Big shoota! (I really need to drill these guys gun barrels...they where the first guys to be done up in about...three years)

Rokkitboy!

And the leader of the bunch: Rutswag, the Nob:

The rest of the boys can be found in my gallery:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-53722-23463_Bad%20Moons.html

Next up is Skullsnazza, the Weirdboy!

I love the details on this model!

This is not just a picture to compare the size of the Weirdboy and the Boys, it´s also for the old and new colours, the guy furthest to the left is painted with the new range from GW:

So...I guess you don´t want to see any more Orks by now? If this is the case I recommend you look away, as I was planning on showing you the Kommando I have finished!

Meet Lotsgrub, the sneaky git:

I actually have two more Kommandos painted up, but no picture yet..

I do, however have some pictures of my current project:

More pictures of the process on the Dakkajet can be found here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-53722-26983_Dakkajet%20-%20Wip.html

My ambition with the Dakkajet is to magnetize all of the weapon choices and still make it look good.

Comments, constructive criticism and questions are, as always, welcome!

Some progress made on the Dakkajet:

Necron Compund drybrushed on all metal parts and I´ve added some yellow to compensate for all that red. Went with some flames on the yellow as well in a effort to keep with the general feel of the army.
Some cleanup left on the wings before adding a brighter layer of red.

C&C is, as always, welcome!

Looking nice! The bases are a bit plain though.

Thanks mate! Yeah, the bases are a bit on the plain side. The plan is to one day make them all properly done. The only reason I didn´t do them up properly from the start is that I didn´t know what theme the board would be.

And now, some progress! (Slow but steady...)

Today the Dakkajet got some more lovin' in the form of a pilot.

This is a WIP shot, only first layer/base colours and some washes done.

This is pretty much the end result:

And a couple of test shots with the cockpit, pilot and windshield temporarily placed in the hull (the gap will not be there once the cockpit is attached to the hull properly:

The reason for the checkered scarf is that I want to tie this model together with the rest of my army visually, you pretty much "have" to go with the red paint job on veichles (especially if you ever played Gorkamorka!) and I was really tired of painting yellow...

I made up a story to go with it, as well!
Skullsnazza had been having some troubles with his hired pilot Drukksmeg. The stupid runt was always shootin´ on the lads and not the enemy! When he dared to come to camp (in the cover of darkness after a big victory feast) Skullsnazza made sure to have a word with ´im.
- But boss, he said, I´m just shootin on the filthy Bad Moons! See, I have mah blue neckwarmer-thingy! THAT means "don´t shoot the proper Deffskulls, they is gonna pay you after you kill all of the other Orks"'
The sound of Skullsnazzas staff hittin poor ol´ Drukksmeg over the head even woke up some of the most hungover Boyz.
- Ya stupid little runt! Are you one of the "speschul" ones that was stomped on the head by the proper boys when you was little? You don´t shoot ANY Orks anymore! We´re fightin´ the blue Space Marines!
He hit him over the head again, just for good measure, this time it sounded as if something popped in Drukkmegs head and he went limp.
"Get over here, ya little rats! Skullsnazza roared into the darkness! A couple of Grots unfortunate enough to be out in the light was pushed over to him. If Skullsnazza wanted you it meant he wanted to test one of his new "gifts" from Gork on you or was hungry. For one unfortunate Grot by the name of Skreech it was even worse:
- You is gonna make sure that daft bugger don´t shoot another greenskin in his life! Find a scarf with our colours and make sure it NEVER leaves his neck. And from now on, you´re never gonna let him out of sight, not even on the plane. If you fail, I´ll make sure your tiny bones will be used as toothpicks all around camp, starting with the Squigs!

The coming days I´ll try to make some progress on the hull and try to get Skreech sorted out. Then all that remains is the bombs! And the dakka!

Well now, progress!

I actually have a full day of gaming ahead of me this weekend.
Therefore, the Dakkajet had to take a step back this evening as some reinforcements are prepared.

A Nob and another Burna to add to my (small) unit of Kommandos. After quite a lot of pinning, greenstuffing and a generally good time this is the result:

The Nob is heavily pinned, the right arm won´t be as loosely pinned when completely assembled.

Tomorrow, I´ll try to get some progress on these two and the parts I need to put the Dakkajet on the table painted. (I think I´ll go with Dakkajet for the weekend, but will bring the whole configuration with me in case I´ll get a chance to try out the Burna and Bommer as well.

Thanks mate!

I took a look at you work, and it is great! Really love the conversions you´re doing.

I´ll try to get an update in later today, the plan is to slobber some paint on those guys as soon as possible!

Update time!

Sorry for not getting to it earlier, but I just finished the Kommando Nob:

I´m aiming for a different look on the Kommandos than the rest of the army, basically it´s washed basecolours and a layer paint applied as edge highlight. I just think it makes the models "pop" a bit and it goes well with the black/red paint scheme I´ve chosen. The checker still need to be there, though ^^

In other news:
I´ve actually got a couple of games in! After my first games I thought the 6th Ed was a tad harsh on CC-heavy armies. This is still true in one way or another, but I´ve started to learn how to counter it.
And I tell you this: Dakkajet + WAAAAGH = good times! What a beast!

Next up: Finishing the Kommando with the Burna and try to kitbash the AoBR Warboss into something cool!

Kommand with Burna done!

This means I now have a total of five Kommandos finished:

The plan for this unit is a total of 12 boys painted up, 2 of each heavy weapon choice, two different Nobs and Snikrot.

However: right now the main priority is nothing less than a Warboss! I´ve got the AoBR Warboss lying around, but I´ll try to make something a tad more unique I think...

A little update on my progress with the Warboss:

After some converting I ended up with this guy:

Had to make sure he had a proper Klaw, the standard one was WAY to weedy!

The Shoota got turned into a combi-rokkit/shoota and some extra dakka:

Made sure he´s got a proper bosspole, as well:

The plan for the helmets are: Ultramarine, Blood Angel and Dark Angel since that is what three of my friends are playing ^^

On the whole I´m quite happy with the little fellow, with some conversions I made him feel like mine. He´s currently being painted up, my I don´t have any WIP pics of that yet.

What do you guys think?

Have some of your kommados got the fw conversion kit, as im thinking of buying them as 27 ish quid for five guys is ridicoulous.
Anyway loving all of your orks and keep up the goood work!

Thanks mate!

Yeah, the two without Burnas are made from the FW kit and the Nobs backpack is from that sprue as well.
I'm going to do some kitbashing with the full squad, but i really think the FW stuff is worth the money. At least for me, I enjoy the gas masks way to much

I try to think like this when it comes to FW stuff and painting: it costs a bit extra for the parts and you sometimes need quite the patience when painting, but if you do a good job you'll have some awesome looking models for the rest of your life!

A couple of years ago I started making some kommandos with just a Boyz sprue and some GS, the plan was to make hats for everyone and give them a more "realistic" special forces look. There is a lot of ways to go about getting some Kommandos into your army!

Progress on the Warboss!

I´m painting him up in pieces, the right arm and back is only basecoated so far...but I´ll get around to them soon as well!

For the parts you have seen so far: do you have any suggestions on markings? I´m thinking checkers and som zigzag with yellow/black on the contrasting colour on the cloth between his legs and on the Power Klaw.

This is still WIP, there is markings and highlightning left on what you have seen so far.
