In a few for more days the big moment will come and we will have 6th edition. But before we have the actual book in our hands what is gut feeling about the upcoming new edition?

I'm excited not optimistic but I am a little nervous.
Orks aren't getting the powers, the 2D6 charge range and the overwatch special rule. Just somethings that might be a bane. Overwatch less so.

Well, since I haven't played since 4th edition, I can't really remember any rules. Since getting back into the hobby though I've been holding off learning to play again so that it's all fresh, so needless to say, I'm very excited.
I've seen a lot of people complaining about the psychic powers overhaul, and I've gotta say, I'm as excited as a 14 year old reading a naughty magazine for the first time. I feel as if the psykers need some love and this is going to give it to them. They're depicted as being able to wipe out legions and mind control people and all other crazy powerful stuff in the fluff, but in the game they seem a little meh.
But yeah, that's just my input on why I'm so excited for the new rules.

Optimistic but nervous.
I'm really only nervous about jet packing "assault escape" for my Suits and the assault threat bubble is sorta random.

Initially I was really excited about it. Now that a more clear picture has arisen, I think I may stop with 40k here. I really get the feel that they just don't have a solid idea of what they want the game to be and really aren't writing rules appropriate to the scale the game has grown to, and gross over-reactions to some things (Hull Points) and other random changes that were completely unnecessary (e.g. Power weapons being AP3, Power Axes being S5 I1 AP2, etc) really confirm that.
I'll get the rulebook and try a couple of games, but while I like some of the changes, others simply mean it would require too much of an investment to get playable armies (in styles I have no particular desire to play) again if they turn out like they've been described. If that turns out to be the case, then I'll likely be done with 40k except for very casual games with close friends once in a blue moon.
There's plenty of other stuff out there to keep my attention at a much lower price point. I really hate saying that, I sound like the generic angry nerd guy with that phrase, but the sad part is that it's just true. Between Infinity, Heavy Gear, Flames of War, Firestorm Armada and the upcoming relaunch of Ogre, there's no lack of highly playable, attractive, and cheap alternatives.
I'll get the rulebook and give it a chance, however from what we've seen so far, I think it's just not my thing anymore.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

Glad I painted all those vehicles, just to have them obliterated in 3 shots on average by the massive glancing hits. Nice that difficult and dangerous terrain mean nothing now especially with Fleet or Move through cover. Nice that people who can throw piles of money at the game get awesome bastions and why even have a limiting FOC anymore? I say just get HQ and Troops and fill the rest with as many of whatever else you want.
Cool that all game stores will be full of GK/SW and GK/IG armies. Just a sea of grey. Nah, I just don't think this edition is for me. Just too much I don't care for in just the leaked stuff alone.
If you like it I say play it till you drop. I'll keep my stuff because GW makes some awesome models but I'm just gonna get some hobby done this edition and see you guys on the other side.

I'll be giving it a go, but some of the rumors aren't exactly ringing my bells.
I've been playing a long, long time. I'll keep playing unless the game mortally offends me somehow.
If it does (not easy.. i didn't quit when GK dropped after all) there are other games, and it's not like i'm shredding my 5th ed rulebook. I can always play 5th with friends..

I've been playing since the days of Rogue Trader, change is not necessarily bad.
I've gathered enough stuff over the years to adapt to pretty much any change that comes along.
Change like this tends (in my experience) to weed out the net list TFG types who buy a force from an internet list, just play that one power list, and never learn to actually play the game.

First time I've given two gaks about GW's official rules since the start of 4th Ed. That means I'm excited.
There are still some very big flies in the ointment (Hull Points being chief among them), and still think the Codices themselves are terrible, but I'm willing to give the rules a go.
Failing that I'll steal whatever's cool and incorporate it into the homebrew 40K rules we've been using since the very end of 3rd Ed.

I reckon I'm sticking with 5th just because of how much it (the rulebook + codexes) costs. Edit: And the confusing things I'm hearing about it!

I'm looking forward... to seizing the excuse to play some Necromunda and some Project Pandora instead.
Random psychic powers, random "warlord" abilities and unnecessary and time-consuming additions like impact hits are not for me.

This is something I'm 100% glad for, not all power weapons were equal! I'm still so used to 2nd editions wargear chart that the fact that Power Axes actually are stronger but slower (it's not I1 it's probably -1I) but penetrate better.
Things are more fantasy like, more 2nd edition, things are going up!
