Everyone keeps talking about something called "Allies." What the heck is Allies?

New part of 6th edition. Depending on the faction you can take stuff from another codex. However you need at least one HQ and one troop from the book you're pulling the allies from. Then you are restricted to only a maximum of one for elites, heavy support and fast attack from the ally as well.

Just look at one of the many other threads to see it in more detail. Seems to be almost one for each combination so far.

It's going to be fun. I can use my Valkyries and my Inquisition Grey Knights together at last.

I think having a furioso dreadnaught with blood talons in his storm raven, in my Necron army lead by Imotekh and Dante(plus a squad of sanguinary guard If he can take them as troops in an allies army) would be fun.

That and it may make my friend who plays CSM flip a table.

If you're Tau it means that you can take a warboss and some boys with a powerclaw as a meat shield

I wonder if you can take somethign like Land Raiders in a squadron if your primarily IG.......

Nice! That sounds about as fun as fielding a GK army with SoB allies.

I didn't know that, I thought it was even more restricted.
So many shenanigins I can think of now!

There may be more restrictions than that, otherwise there wouldn't be a chart where some factions are brothers in arms, while others have an uneasy alliance, etc. etc.
