Thinking of starting a drop troop detachment to my standing imperial guard army and I really like the elasian troops positions etc but I would rather they have different heads. Ideally I'd like to combine them with the cadian rebreather/hostile environment upgrade kits. I have a variety of options:

If their heads are seperate I can do a straight head swap or am I going to have to introduce them to mr snips?

Or am I better just using cadian hostile environment troopers who look quite drop infantry ish because the scaling will look weird and then using the weapon accessory kit to give them the cool lasguns?

How assembled are the heavy weapon teams (could I easily replace the elasians if I went with option 2)

Anyone who knows anything about this I would be eternally grateful as I would rather know before ahand than shell out on the wrong thing! Also what are dakka's thoughts on the whole subject??

Cheers, Talon

Forge World do make rebreather heads specifically for the Elysians; I'd advise using them, since, being closer to true-scale, the Elysians may not look quite right mixed with components from other Imperial Guard ranges.

Thats what I was thinking but I still prefer these heads http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Cadian_Shock_Troops/CADIAN_INFANTRY_SQUAD_WITH_RESPIRATORS_UPGRADE_PACK.html

so its probably best just to go for those right? Its a shame because I love the heavy bolter and sniper elysian teams :(

Yeah Elysian heads won't look right on normal Guard bodies they are just out of scale.

best go with the Cadian heads or go all out and buy the proper Elysian modes which look fantastic by the way

Or you could just get some of the Mantic Corporation minis, which look pretty similar to the Elysians but are about a gazillion times cheaper.

Krieg! What a hole...

Or you could let the guy use the product he likes/wants...

Either way, what others have said's pretty much dead on, I used various parts from the Cadians and the Catachans to customize my DKoK Grenadiers a bit, and well it shows they're not from the from the same model range.

Gathering the Informations.

Actually, the Cadian Respirator heads are noticeably smaller than the normal Cadian heads so he should be okay.

I'd advise to buy a single set and something small, just to try it out though before going full-bore on the project.

Just wondering, how well do they scale with the Elysians? I've been seriously contemplating getting some from Mantic, but I already have FW Elysians and love the way they look. If the Mantic figures don't stick out too badly, I might get some. Also, would the parts be interchangeable, with some converting of course?

Thanks for the feed back guys!

This might be quite a shot in the dark but I have my own insignia for these drop troops so is it possible, anywhere, to buy blank transfer paper that you can print onto? Or is this just fantasy I have?

You're my new hero!!! Did you get the pieces from forgeworld and does it look ok for all your models not just this one???

Also how much converting did it take or was it just a simple head swap and how did you make that sweet base?

Regards, Talon
