So gw told the retailers to start advance orders on 6th Ed, but failed to tell retailers they would not be able to preorder the collector and gamers Ed of 6th. Just curious... Just found out my gamers Ed I paid for in advance won't be coming but will be a reg edition. I know there was the Oder online thing, but that's what the independent retailers do is order online so figured I was in the clear.

Sure it's a GW thing?

I got forewarned by the manager of my LGS: If I wanted a copy of the collector's edition, he'd have to order it from GW as a regular customer. I could perfectly log in to GW and order it myself.

Yeah I saw the email my store got. No warning at all, they were just as shocked as I. Like you said I could have ordered myself and was even on gw site looking at it but thought I already had it bought. I mean it's not the end of the world or anything...just wanted the murse to put my iPad, dice docex and rule book in because it's not going to all fit in my army transport. I got a friend that has one almost like the gw one in design, and he said I can have it...so I'm good...just curious if this was isolated or what.

Independent dealer not gw stores is where I shop...gw stores prob had a heads up.

They did it my FLGS as well. Instead ordering directly from gw, I waited to order from my local store to show support for them. The guys from my store planned to order 8 gamer eds and 1 collectors. Shows that gw
A. wants to keep all the profits for themselves (not wanting to support the indy's that truly drive a gaming base)
B. poorly forecasted demand, Making limited edition items are cool and all, but not forecasting enough to support your dealer network for the first week? They just left money on the table, and most of the money they missed on won't be put into other GW products.

I would think that anything that's limited to 4,000 copies (or whatever) would be exclusive to GW stores and the website.

Were the indy stores given a price list that included the LE books? If they were then it was a bit deceptive on GWs part. If they took preorders on an assumption that they could get the books, then it is kind of on the indys.

I can't wrap my mind around how anybody could drop an extra $60 on an already expensive book for a plastic purse to carry it in.

I bought the basic book direct from GW so it arrives at my home by Saturday (probably sooner!). So I'm probably not the nerdrage filled poster this was aimed at...
