Haven't seen much rage on the Psychic Hood nerf. Codex SM FAQ says refer to Rulebook. Page 68 says, may extend the Librarians defense modifiers to another unit up to 6" away... NERF!

What say you Dakka?

Yeh, they're pretty terrible now, there's no denying it.

I see librarians as pretty pointless now, you won't take one for the hoods nullifying ability, you may take one for null zone and 1 other power but the random powers are just that, too random to be of much use. If when you roll for psychic powers on one of the tables and end up with powers that don't compliment libbys wargear or army composition you end up with a worthless 100pt+ unit.

Easy Solution: Ally a Rune Priest, with some Grey Hunters to hide with. Runic Weapons haven't changed. Yet.

The Psychic Hood nerf really hurts, especially since it can no longer cancel friendly-targeted and AoE psychic powers.

Basically hoods now are just a 5+ DTW on 1-2 units (since it has 6" range). Not particularly good.

Grey Knights got hurt less since they'll always have Aegis and a 5+ DTW, and their hoods are more likely to provide the +2 bonus (with Mastery 2/3 Librarians), so hoods will usually up the DTW to a 4+. However, Rune Priests and Runes of Warding Farseers are still the top of the list for psychic defense.

Let me qualify this a lil better. Putting aside my SpaceWolves and going Eldar for the intro into 6th edition. Looking forward to breaking out some psychic attacks with my long ears.

Psychic hoods got a major nerf, but at the same time they were as annoying as balls to play against so I don't really mind.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

As an eldar player, when I saw the new hood rules I cried out in joy.

As a marine player my thoughts were "meh" since I used libby's very rarely in 5th edition, and psychic hoods even less. Nothing will really change for me on that front.

Going back to 5th Edition rules...

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

I knew some who did this when 2nd went to 3rd. 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th weren't such big changes.

People have just forgotten what it's like to see some real changes with new editions.

Oh I know. I always laugh at rage quitters myself. I think we'll just see more of it this edition because people have gotten spoiled to smaller more transparent changes over the last couple of editions.

Whenever I see someone complaining about rage-quitting, it just reminds me to check eBay and see if there's any good deals

Meh, some of the new Psychic Powers are good enough to make me not so sad about it.

Nobody in my area really ever used freaking Psykers, so, maybe that's why I'm meh. I'm annoyed that Runes of Warding and the Wolves' Psychic Hood didn't get nerfed, but thems the breaks.

EDIT:

You can now decide what Psychic Powers you are using / trading for the BRB ones. So, you can take Null Zone and idk, Vortex of Doom for your list, and you can choose to trade either of them for a power in the BRB.

Psychic hoods nerfed? Good. Now they can learn how it feels to be constantly on the receiving end of imperial psychic shenanigans.

Seriously, it reduces the chasm between the haves and have-nots (read: xenos other than Eldar) in an increasingly potent aspect of the game, so I'm all for it.

I've always thought it was bad design to make the same model who casts psychic powers the key model for blocking them. It just makes them too much of an auto-include and so reduces variety in lists.

And SoB. And IG. And BT.

Stop playing the victim card while ignoring part of the victims because they don't fit in with your greater argument, it's dishonest.

That's an awesome idea actually. Both the RP and the GH's are great units too.

In my game room playing Specialist GW games

I'm very happy about the nerf.

I've always thought it was rediculous that someone can pay for a Librarian and they automatically get a psychic hood for free that most of the time stops psychic powers in their tracks.

I don't like having to spend all the points on psychic powers for any of my armies and then have some guy come along and make it so I can't use all those psychic powers I paid for. That's a lot of wasted points if the Libby sucessfully uses the hood.

I have had many battles where someone with a librarian has stopped most if not all of the powers for every turn of the game.

I had better chances of getting spells off vs Farseer runes of Warding than I ever did vs Librarians with Psychic Hoods. I say good riddance to them.

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

I don't know about you, but I have never had a pyshic hood amount to much of anything for me. I used to use my Daemonhunter Inquisitor with a Psychic Hood (unlimited raneg too) alongisde my Sisters and IG in Apocalypse. I had no less than 15 psychic powers used in a couple of Apoc turns and only blocked one of them. Because nearly every psyker is Leadership 10 and you lose ties it not all that effective most of the time. Ruen Weapons n the other hand are just amazingly awesome at blocking psyhic powers. Those of course are unnerfed.
