I'm sure this is fairly simple, but I want to be absolutely sure.

Nemesis Daemon Hammers via codex say to see the core rule book and that they are treated as Thunder Hammers. FAQ says Unusual Force Weapons are AP3 with out any bonuses to Strength, unweildy, etc. So does this mean that Daemon Hammers, even though they count as Thunder Hammers are only Strenght - AP3?

Ap 2.

The rule for treating them as thunderhammers superceeds it.

You know as well as I do its not that clear cut mate

As a RAI i agree, use the rules for the thunderhammer... as RAW, it reads as AP3 to me

Technically, they are both AP2 and AP3 at the same time. Who knows, it could be important someday.

"Treat it as an AP3 weapon with the additional rules presented in its entry."

Which are: "NDH uses the rules for Thunder Hammers"

Which are: "Sx2 AP2 Melee/Concussive/Specialist/Unwieldy."

It's AP2.

Nope, RAW it is both AP3 and AP2, as RAW you have no rule saying the AP3 overrides the AP2 from being a TH

Except you know the bit where it says the weapon is AP3. I could argue the additional rules are "Melee/Concussive/Specialist/Unwieldy" as we are told the AP at the front end of the entry.

Regardless - i personally think they are Ap2... but AP3 can be argued

Yep, the weapon is AP3

It is also a TH, so it is AP2

So it is AP3 and AP2. RAW.

Page 54 – Nemesis Force Weapons, Force Weapons.
Change the first sentence to read “Unless otherwise stated, all
Nemesis weapons are Unusual Force Weapons, as detailed in
the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.”

The Hammer entry says says Daemon Hammers follow ALL rules of a thunder hammer. THUS having been stated otherwise, it DOES NOT ever even become classified as an Unusual Force Weapon BUT as a Thunder Hammer w/ the force special rules conferred by the Nemesis prefix.

So it is Strx2, Concussive, AP2, Specialist, Unwieldy.

Yep, the weapon rules override the rulebook entry. The daemon hammer is a thunder hammer, and the rulebook also states that look at the weapon profile for additional rules, in which describe that as AP2, so entry overrides rule. I concur the the above users who said this.

This somehow reminds me of an argument that a chaos player had with himself over the AP of the black mace on a daemon prince. The mace was AP 4, but the prince was AP 2, so he went with the weapon profile over the unit profile and had AP 4 on a Daemon Prince [sarcasm]wait...what about Smash?[/sarcasm]. Basically his prince was beaten to death by a termie lord that had re-roll armor boon w/ lightning claws in 3 rounds of combat.
