I also hope it's like the first RTW. That's the best TW so far. I hope the campaign will resemble rome 1 and Medieval 2 more because of how different the ancient eras are compared to the more industrialized ones.
2013 is too far away for this game... Gotta play RTW to prepare. Empire can only do so much in ways of real epic warfare.

All I want them to do is surreptitiously re-release Rome TW 1 with slightly updated graphics
Man, I'd love them for that. Very hard to fail with a sequel too, though!

I've played Rome: Total War a bit and enjoyed it even though I'm awful.. AWFUL... at strat games. I mostly played multiplayer with a friend. I tried to get into the campaign but didn't even finish the tutorial... not because I wasn't enjoying it but because I ran out of time and had to go somewhere. I should re-install the bugger for old time's sake. Can't wait to unleash mostly cavalry armies! (Its fun to watch your opponent try to chase them down to finish them off.)

I was always more of a defensive/sieging kind of player. Waves of infantry in orderly lines accompanied by sophisticated siege engines... I just loved picking the enemy off one by one with my ballistae. Either they tried to dig in, merely extending the time my bombardment would last, or they would charge, their morale already dented by losses incurred by my hail of projectiles. Needless to say, the heavily armoured and disciplined legionnaires lent themselves well to my gameplay style.

Not just naval warfare, ancient beech landings.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

I hope they fix the Roman pilum rediculousness. I hated playing as the Romans simply because when I really really needed them to charge...they just stood still and got out the spears
The amount of times this led to me being counter charged is sickening.

I knew this would happen. I would of prefered a Dark Ages: Total War or Genghis Khan: Total War but this will have to do. May the might of Gaul and Germania prevail! Death to Rome and Greece!

Dark Ages would be more like Medieval 3 though
But Khan total war, I would love that. You'll have almost every army available from Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Russian, etc!

true, it was pretty lame commentary. the shots are at the end if you don't mind waiting for it to buffer. it reveals some interesting beach landing gameplay and nods to the new graphic system.

Meh, I know I'm gonna be shouted down for this, but I'm really not interested. I wish they'd do something fantasy or sci-fi instead of monotonous and repetative historical games.
