I'm looking to get back into WM/H and while browsing this sub-forum have noticed a ton of threads regarding new Everblight players but very little love for the Protectorate.

Given their presence in the starter set that struck me as odd. Are menoth players fewer in number or have they all be sworn to a vow of silence?

Dakkadakka isn't good sample for Warmachine players as other games tend to overshadow it on these forums. For what it is worth, Protectorate has a significantly larger player base than Legion in my local meta.

This. Plus way agreed on the second point, the meta is going to matter. There is no true "most popular" faction.

very popular in my area. Probably the most popular warmachine faction.

Every area has their own player base.
As an example there are several stores the Philadelphia area.

The most common Factions tends to be:
1. Cryx
2. Khador.
3. Legion
4. Mercs

The least common Factions:
1. Trollbloods
2. Menoth
3. Skorne

Nothing says the others aren't good, I think newer players are drawn to what they either associate with, or see other people using. As an example, Outside the Box in Voorhees has a lot of people interested in Retribution as they simply think they look cool. Meta game they all are using Rayvn with Mage Hunters. However, there are a few more seasoned Warmachine players popping in with things like Khador, Mercs, and Circle making them realize there are other things out there.

Menoth is a solid army, they can be built to be fast, durable, heavy on fire, or jacks. Really there is no going wrong with them.

Although my local has more Hordes than Warmachine I know we have at least as many Menoth players as Khador. So 3 or 4. I'm the only primary Cygnar and there is a scattering of other factions.

And once people get a hold of the Judicator I'll bet on a bunch more Menites at the table.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Popular in my area is Khador, Cryx, Legion of Everblight, and Trollbloods.

And no-one plays them the same, and no-one even has the same schemes. It's kinda funny.

Popularity shouldn't matter when choosing a faction as there is very little corrolation between popularity and power. Mercs, Ret and Minions tend to be less popular due to them having a more limited model selection in my area, but short of that its a diverse and well mixed bunch. My group has Cygnar, Menoth, Legion, Mercs, Circle and Trollbloods.

Menoth is super sweet, I just got my best friend into them and learning more about them myself. I'd highly recommend them for players who enjoy a mixed arms faction with a heavy attrition style and who love stompy robots

General Rule that i see..

Cryx is #1 Warmachine faction, due to power of casters and what they do. They are seen the most overall

Cygnar/Khador are next (hence these 3 factions usually get their models first)

Then its Menoth
Mercs and ret are at the bottom (Ret is the newer faction)

For hordes..
Legion is near the top if not the top, not sure betweem Skorne/circle/trolls.

It was just something that struck me as odd. I've often heard that the factions are more evenly represented in WM/H but don't often seem to see them mentioned on the internet.

Cheers for the replies.

Dakka is also not a good representation for the general WMHD population. You can patron privateer press forums, where the information and representation is more prevelant. I'd even suggest going over there to review the tactical articles. In the faction listing, almost every warcaster is eval'd in full detail.

Menoth has a place from some down right nasty lists. However not all area's showcase them. If you travel around to a couple stores, you'll see lots of different armies at each store
