How do you guys paint you Bolt Guns and such. I am in the process of painting a Word Bearers army and for my Plague Marines I used Red bolters to keep them in check with my army theme, but for my actual Word Bearers, red bolters make to much red on the model.

It fits in nicely I think

See a bit to much red.

So how do you guys paint you bolt guns ??

I am currently working on a Word Bearers army myself and I will be doing a boltgun metal all over the gun and then wash with either an armor/black wash and then highlight with chainmail. I will also be adding some symbols/script to give them some character.

HI Loiero, I always use a complement colour on my bolt guns/weapons in general.
For this Iron Hand I went with a damaged white, this is so the eye is drawn to the white first and then the rest of the model.

How ever some Painters prefer the armour that the marines are wearing to stand out more (All GW marines for instance).
In the case of your red armour I would use either a white or black bolt gun.

yeah i like to make the bolter to stand out from the model... i plaint blood ravens and most have black bolters because that stands out from the color scheme...
thats why i really like the red bolter on the plague marine but not so much on the word bearer... because it blends in too much... maybe use a black, dark grey or dark blue for the bolter to make it stand out more
