Guys,

Here is a video on what I currently have obtained. Any help on a competitive (NOT POWER GAMER) list would be most appreciated!

Hey Catta, welcome to the world of souless metal and green glowie crap!

(Interested in your tacklebox full of unassembled Necron, fellow Maple Leafer = cheaper shipping!)

Nice lot of Necron you have there. I am more of a painter (not even that good of one yet) than a player but I will give you the best advice I can.

I have watched a few 6th ed Necron games at the local store and there are a few untis that seem to be doing extremly well. From your video I know you wont have some of the listed models but it could be something to look into

Destroyer Lords [Orb, Weave, Scythe], accompanied by wraiths w/ whipcoils

Necron Fliers (Doomscythe or Nightscythe)

Tooled out Overlords on Catacomb Command Barges

Heralds of the Storm (Storm-Tek)

Now with what you have, I could recommend a list with my limited personal playing expierence.

1 Overlord, 285 pts; Unit Type: Infantry; Warscythe; Mindshackle Scarabs; Sempiternal Weave; Resurrection Orb; Phase Shifter; Ever-Living; Independent Character; Reanimation Protocols)

1 Lord; Unit Type: Infantry; Warscythe; Resurrection Orb; Ever-Living; Reanimation Protocols)

HQ: Overlord (1#, 205 pts)
1 Overlord, 205 pts; Unit Type: Infantry; Warscythe; Mindshackle Scarabs; Sempiternal Weave; Resurrection Orb; Phase Shifter; Ever-Living; Independent Character; Reanimation Protocols)

Troops: Warriors (10#, 130 pts) 1 Harbinger of Destruction goes here
10 Warriors, 130 pts; Unit Type: Infantry; Gauss Flayer; Reanimation Protocols)

1 Monolith, 200 pts; Unit Type: Vehicle (Heavy, Tank, Skimmer); Eternity Gate; Particle Whip; 4x Gauss Flux Arc; Deep Strike; Living Metal)

Total Roster Cost: 2000

Not sure if this is legal as I am not super familiar with the new Force Orginization Layout but if you need to satisfy more troops slots you could peel either 5 or 10 from one of the 20 strong blobs and camp them on an objective. With all the warriors a Ghost Ark would be good too but with this list all you need to procure from outside what you have is 2 boxes or wraiths and a catacomb command barge/ anni barge kit. It comes with an overlord model! You can use some of your extra warriors to convert the needed crypteks. You can ebay the staff bits from the lychguard sets to arm them with. Ebay some Deathmark heads as well and replace the necron warrior head with it to really help the cryptek look,Use the Necron standard body , sans arms and head and then just glue the ebay's bits on

Basic Tactic would be to have the Monolith be a moving screen providng cover for the warriors blobs, and the barge lord. When you get close enough with barge lord come from around monolith and wreck stuff.

The D-Lord and Wraiths can aslo use monolith as screen as they move up board. Once they are in melee somethings going to feel the pain. They all have Pref Enemy thanks do D-Lord.

10 Squad of warriors with LanceTek sit on farthest back objective and blast things from afar

20 blobs move up field. Each have a storm tek for melee deterance, a scythe one from overlord 1 from lord, both have res orb support and the overlord squad gets a nice ChronTek reroll dice just in case. Can be used for ANY roll. *fist bump*

This would be a great way to get your feet wet. ATM if you dont want to drop any cash on wraiths and a barge, put the other overlord on foot as well and add another cryptek of choice to fill out the points. Then instead of wraths you could use Destroyers as a proxy if your buddies are hip to that jive.

Hope this helps, once again Im a total noob, so I will accept any flame I have too from seasond Necron vets,

I will give you a quick run down on everything I have learned with the new Codex. I am a 5 year Necron veteran, so I've been around the block a few times with the ole'boys.

Sadly, those Monoliths just aren't worth it anymore. They got hit hard with the new Codex and hit again with 6th Ed. I really can't think of a single scenario where they are worth even taking up a single heavy support slot for.

Those heavy support slots are going to be crowded because Doomsday Arks are very effective versus....almost everything. Doom Scythes are good versus vehicle based armies and now are very hard for most armies to kill in return. Canoptek Spyders are also very good. Its hard to beat a S6 T6 Monstrous Creature for 50 points that also makes Scarabs for free.

Fast Attack is also full of good stuff.
- Tomb Blades are good for killing horde armies
- Destroyers wreck Marine armies now
- Wraiths are a must versus shooty armies(Tau, Imperial Guard and sometimes Eldar)

I laughed when you said 120 Necron Warriors. Necron Warriors are a good troop, but you will never need 120 of them, but youre selling them so, smart man.

Immortals are one the best deals in any codex in my opinion. A 10 man Immortal Squad can put out 20 S5 AP4 shots at 12'. Most Marine squads will take heavy casualties from this and guys without 3+ armor saves, forget about them, they're as good as dead.

When I run Necron Lords with Res Orbs, its for my 20 man Necron Warrior squads. This can give those Warriors some serious staying power.

Only thing you seem to be missing is some Elites slots stuff.
I recommend -
- Triarch Stalkers - good for AT and twin-linking your other units weapons and not a bad deal for 150 points for a walker with Armor 13 front and side
- Lychguard - While very situational, I think people underestimate the Lychguard. They hit very hard, and unlike most units, they have an AP1 close combat weapon that still hits at Initiative, instead of I1.

Other than that, I'd say pick up a Destroyer Lord. They can move fast, destroy vehicles, kill most Independent characters, get a 2+ armor save and still get back up on a 4+ with res orb, no matter how they die!

"Most mortals will die from this procedure...and so will you!"
