I might be wrong but I vaguely remember that Orkz were created by the 1st race to fight the Necrons

So why are they buddy buddy now?

on the forum. Obviously

Its not so much buddy buddy as "I'll fight those gitz for you if you give us a bloody big shoota"

Which is why they are allies of convenience and not battle brothers.

Pretty much this... No one is "Buddy Buddy" with the Necrons.

Well, there was one case of a "sort of alliance" between the two.

It's in the Necron codex.

A WAAAGH! had reached a just-awakening tomb world.

The recently awoken Overlord spoke out to the leader of the WAAAGH! (which was a Big Mek, not a Warboss, IIRC).

The Overlord offered a set of Doomsday cannons in exchange for the Orks leaving and attacking another planet.

The Orks accepted, so it's a sort-of alliance.

NOTE: The Orks used the weapons on another planet, but screwed up and the entire planet disappeared...

Here's a hint:

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

And so the orks learned not to tamper with a 100,000 year old doomsday device...about 10 seconds before getting vaporized.

This reminds me of 5th element and the little red button

So I suppose the simple of it is that Orkz basically forgot their history

Oh they remember...just like they remember that they have to fight everybody else.
The orks don't care who they fight, as long as they fight.
The only way to get rid of them is to point them in the general direction of someone else and give them a good reason to beat the crap out of them and not you (the other guy said their warboss was a grot, the orkz get a free nuke, etc)
