Not everyone does though, I've seen plenty of the first founding chapters. Well except Iron Hands, they seem a bit less common.

The only loyalist first founding chapters I find interesting are the Imperial Fists and Dark Angels, and even then I prefer specific successors of theirs. I think part of it is that later founding chapters allow for more creativity since there is less existing fluff on them.

I play Salamanders! I have a 1750 point army

Black Templars are the best Space Marine Chapter out of all the Space Marines. They are the most fanatical marines out there. They are on an endless, eternal crusade for the god emperor. AND they get in the face of the enemy. Thats the way to get things done.

Maybe it's a case of people want to paint their own style or find the first founding schemes a bit dull, I can't comment. I'm thousand sons/blood ravens (through quirk of fate)

I've seen Salamanders, Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and then various former loyal first founding legions. No real White Scars players in my area though. Same with Iron Hands.

You're all forgetting Death Guard, Thosand Sons, Emperor's Children, World Eaters and Black Legion.

I'm sure once the new codex for chaos is released we'll see a return of Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Night Lords and Alpha Legion.

I miss 3.5

Why is it I saw this and started thinking of Ninjas?

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

So no one out there plays Ultramarines, Salamanders, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, or Space Wolves? Nor does anyone play Emperor's Children, Black Legion (Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves), Death Guard, or World Eaters?

Nope never seen a one...

I've seen tonnes of first founding players. If anything, second founding chapter players are rarer.

I have notices:

Nearly to often:
Space Wolves
Blood Angels

Very often:
Dark Angels
Ultramarines

Often:
Imperial Fist

Not so often:
Raven Guard

Needs more players:
White Scars
Salamanders

hardly:
Iron Hands

I play Templars, Fists and Raven Guard and started with the now repainted Ultramarines. If I wouldnt have 2 black Marine armies I would start Iron Hands.

Iron Hands are the only ones I've never seen played locally. I play White Scars, myself.

I play iron hands...

Codex marines are tied for useage as ultra marines and salamanders, after that you tend to see raven guard and imperial fists, but yes white scars players are rare.
