Units from Codex: Daemons cannot use any kind of icon from codex: Chaos Space Marines for the pourposes of deepstrike scatter negation. However the reverse is true. (ie. CSM units may use daemon icons).

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Is that in the Daemons book?

EDIT: Ah, no it's in the CSM book. I see.

The CSM icons specifically state what can use them. Chaos demons cannot.

The personal Icon says deamons. The fact that greater and lessor deamon are deamons have the deamon special rule I guess means nothing its so odd that people are so caught up on the greater or lessor they are deamons at the end of the day seems so simple to me when you read the allies rules.

Right, however it also says to see Icons and Deep Strike which specifies only models in Terminator Armour, Obliterators and Lesser Daemons.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Personal Icons: These icons simply guide teleporting models and Daemons (see Icons and Deep Strike).
Icons and Deep Strike: Note that Icons only work for models in Terminator Armour, Oblieterators and Lesser daemons.

It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal.

Where? Icons only deal with deep striking, not including the everyone gets Mark of whoever. Greater Daemons in Codex Chaos Space Marines do not deep strike. Additionally, on page 81 It says as I quoted, only models in Terminator armour, obliterators and lesser daemons. This means (unlike the Chaos Daemon Icon) it does not work for any models out of Codex Chaos Damons.

I don't have book here but I will get back to you I am sure it mentions them anyway I don't think people are taking the allies rules in to effect the way they should. The battle brother rule is pretty broad.

MDizzle, why would you keep arguing it without the book? Greater Daemons aren't listed as using Icons in Codex: CSM. Why would they be? They don't DS in that codex.
