Subject: Chaos and Daemons? Or Daemons and Chaos?

Courageous Space Marine Captain

So with the rise of 6th ed I want to start a new, non Imperial army for it. I was thinking Chaos of some sort. But I am not sure on whether to have Marines as the main contigent with Daemonic Allies, or Daemons which Marine Allies. I prefer assault armies so it would be Khorne heavy. I know CSM is being rereleased soon, and they will be awesome, but I don't want to be seen as "Bandwagoning" but at the same time I do want to get my stuff in time for the new release. Could you guys help me. Below are a couple of lists of units I would want in.
If CSM with Daemons
Daemon Prince of Khorne (Warlord)
Kharne if I can fit him
Khorne Berserkers x2
Terminators with an Assortment of Power Axes, Mauls, Chainfists and Combimeltas
Possessed
Allies
Skulltaker on Juggernaut
Bloodletters
Bloodcrushers
And an Aegis Defense line with Quad gun if points allow
If Daemons with CSM
Bloodthirster or Skulltaker on Juggernaut (Warlord)
Bloodcrushers
2x Bloodletters
Daemon Prince of Khorne with Daemonic Flight, Unholy might... Just tooled up with everything
Allies
Abaddon
Berserkers
Chaos Land Raider

From a competitive perspective, the Khorne Daemons aren't great. Bloodcrushers were strong in 5th due to wound allocation and the effectiveness of power weapons, which both went away. Bloodletters tend to get shot to death before they make it into combat and the extra attack you get from a mark of Khorne on Daemon Princes isn't really needed.
That said, the Khorne models for Daemons look amazing. Bloodcrushers are one of the best plastic kits out there. Bloodletters and princes also look great. Combined with Berzerkers and you could have a great looking army. It will struggle to get into close combat and will have a tough time opening tanks but it will look great while doing it. You could probably make a deathstar unit out of Bloodcrushers and some Heralds of Khorne on crushers that has a massive footprint and can beat up on most anything in CC. It isn't hard to run away from, though, and you will have trouble with 2+ armor.
If you want to be competitive, the strongest units in the Daemons codex are as follows: Fiends (best unit in the codex), Princes (Nurgle, Tzeentch, or Undivided with Wings and other goodies), Tzeentch Heralds on Chariots (have to compete with improved Greater Daemons now), Fateweaver, Bloodthirster, Lord of Change (vector strike + shooting buffed him a bunch for 6th), and Bloodcrushers. Unfortunately, these are all over the place in terms of Gods so it is hard to be fluffy and competitive. You could make an all Tzeentch army with the Lord of Change, Tzeentch Princes, Horrors, and Thousand Sons but that is about the best you could do with one God.

With the new changes it looks like a CSM army with demon allies is the way to go.
This might all change with the new book, but as of right now CSM has a lot better troops, and the demons have much nicer HQs. Specificially the special character HQs that give army wide buffs.
The top two seem to be Epidemus in a death guard force, with as many MoN troops as you can field, or Fateweaver in a Thousand Sons force, where his rerolls to invulnerable saves should make stuff like Tzeentch Terminators a nightmare for anyone to deal with.
Both lists are extremely fluffy, and look pretty competitive.
If you go demons the flying godzilla list looks pretty cool, but you might not even want or need to run allies there. All the big stuff with wings, fateweaver for rerolls, keep em flying and tear stuff up with shooting/vector strikes.

So it seems CSM with Daemons is better. I think I am.going to stick with What I have in the above list, but swap out Bloodcrushers in allies for another Khorne Prince( with all the goodies) and the Possessed with either Plague Marines( might tuin my Monokhorne theme) or Chosen.
I know it isn't really competitive but I don't compete. It will struggle to open transports, but with Playing nids and GK previously it is something I am used to. I have an Aegis Quad Gun for long range light vehicle popping, and the Princes and Karn should pop the heavy stuff if the get up close. Kharn has gotten better at chopping vehicles due to Str6, Armourbane and AP2.
And with any luck the new codex will make this viable.
In the.meantime, can I ask if CSM and CD are Battlebrothers in the new Codex? I reckon Abaddon and Kharn, along with Skulltaker on Chariot, leading a maxed out Bloodcrusher unit would kick @$$.

They are battlebrothers.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
