So 6th Ed came at the same time as my paycheque and the inevitable happened and I ended up with a new army. Necron flyer lists appealed to me before and I really like the jetbike models so 6th Ed was the excuse I needed to get a Necron army. Here's the list I bought:

HQ

Overlord (warlord): Warscythe, Mindshackle Scarabs, Sempiternal Weave, Command Barge 210
Court: Harbinger of the Storm, Harbinger of the Storm with Lightening field 60

Overlord: Warscythe, Sempiternal Weave, Command Barge 195
Court: Harbinger of the Storm, Harbinger of the Storm with Lightening field 60

TROOPS

5 Immortals: Nightscythe 185

5 Immortals: Nightscythe 185

5 Immortals: Tesla, Nightscythe 185

ELITES

5 Deathmarks: 95

5 Deathmarks: 95

FAST ATTACK

5 Tombblades: 100

5 Tombblades: 100

HEAVY SUPPORT

Doomscythe: 175

Doomscythe: 175

Doomscythe: 175

Total 1995

So most of it starts in reserve (which does cause me problems for what gets left on the table particularly against the faster armies). The Flyers do what you'd expect and the troops stay inside until late game unless I'm against a vehicle heavy army in which case they get out and wreck vehicles like confetti. The lightening field crypteks join the Gauss Immortals for overwatch protection and between them and the rapid firing gauss you are nearly guaranteed to get 3 glancing hits (thus killing pretty much any vehcile short of a landraider). The other two both join the Tesla squad (which means charging any of my troops units is fraut with danger), giving me 8 shots that glance on a 2+ and they just nail vehicle squadrons and 4HP vehicles.

The bikes zoom around adding support by either firing into squads that have come out of vehicles or adding that final glancing hit should a squad fail to kill a vehicle. However since the bikes start on the board they in general just give up the first blood victory point early on. But since my love for these models is one of the main reasons to do necrons I won't drop them. I also think that unupgraded they are points efficient when compared with immortals.

The deathmarks start in reserve and deepstrike to deal with infantry threats to my flyers and MCs. Having 2 units allows me to pick 2 units that can be wounded on a 2+. Though I could drop these for another NecImmortal nightscythe unit.

The command barges charge around providing the only CC punch in the army utilising the Chariot rules in conjunction with the Sempiternal weave to leave me invulnerable to anything that isn't AP2 or better...

Generally I go for strategic on the Warlord and pray for a 4...

I'm not too sure on the survivability of the immortals once they get out but they shouldn't be getting out voluntarily. Only problem I see with these flyer lists is the limited maneuvaribility of having 6 of them on the table with their zooming restriction.

Personally I prefer wraiths but as you said you love Tomb Blades that's irrelevant.

If you look at the list I posted up I havent gone for such a min max build but let me know how this plays out at your local GW/FLGS

I personally dont rate any of the elite slots in the necron codex so I would drop them for either another immortal/scythe unit or some wraiths/tomb blades.

These "lets find the best unit in our codex, and see how many we can cram into a list" List types are one of the reasons I question playing this game.

This is hardly that type of list as it has a maximum of 3 any unit with 8 different types of unit in the list. But thanks for your helpful feedback...

Not had a huge problem with it to be honest. You have to decide which is more important target priority or shooting another turn but on a 6'x4' it is easy to get 2 turns of shooting in before flying off the board, obviously getting more depends greatly on your opponent and how he has set up his army. That's one of the advantage of having such fast units on the table as you can encourage your opponent to spread out which increases you likely hood of getting more turns of shooting. You have to think at least a turn ahead though.

Personally I prefer wraiths but as you said you love Tomb Blades that's irrelevant.

I could only get 1 unit of wraiths for 200 points and I think that the Chariots fullfill much the same roll now in a different way.

I've found the deathmarks fun but not hugely efficient. They can solve problems but they are certainly the weakest part of the list. However they are my best tool for dealing with MCs at range and the precision shots can rob an infantry army of its ability to deal with vehicles.

How about the restriction to have at most half of the army in reserve? And if you end up with nothing on the board, you will lose.

Of the 6 units i have that count 4 start on the board (command barges and bikes) i could deploy more if i felt i needed it. Just ensure there's a los blocking terrain piece in your deployment zone to hide behind. No first turn charges anymore....

After playing a few games myself, the restriction on moving with the fliers isn't that bad. My wraiths have done very well and but I think I'll try some deathmarks..

He has 8 units that dont have to start in reserve.. And the fact that the tomb blades, 2 command barges, and 2 overlords do not he's fine.

How have the tomb blades and deathmarks performed?

You beat me too it. The command barge and IC count as separate units in terms of reserve units correct?

Yea I think you ll get wiped off the bord plenty... U need more ground troops less flyers... I personally play 4 night scythes... The heavy flyers are to expensive! Get a barge instead cheaper...

Then a whole bunch of war scythes

Death marks suck... Range 24 ... They get wiped off the board easily... Their shooting is not strong... Same with tomb blades their guns are feeble...

The deathmarks will work much better with a despairtek (you'll need a veil).

This death and despair combo needs to be considered disposable, even in 6th. Point at juicy target. Kill/maim. done.
