Hi all, I am trying to jump into warhammer 40k after this new edition. Something that happened in a demo game was bothering me so I came to this board for some clarifications.

One player placed the center of a large template of a barrage weapon over 5 models, with the center on the character he wanted to snipe. He then rolled a hit, scoring 5 wounds. No Armour saves were allowed in this case due to ap. No cover saves, and not invulnerable saves. Since wounds are allocated from the center of the blast, he mentioned that that the character would have to successfully make five(5) "Look out Sir!" saves in order to not die.

I always thought that allocating one wound to the same model over and over again can only happen with multiple shooting attacks and that with a single shooting attack like the barrage blast, only one(1) look out sir! would need to be made. Also, if the character had multiple wounds he would take only 1.

Can someone clarify this for me?

Also in the Black Templar Codex, it mentioned that assault marines can take Storm Shield for only +3 points. This would not be affected by the faq that said the Storm shield from the armory moved from 10 pts to 15pts right?

Thank you all for your time.

In the new edition wounds are taken one at a time. You must allocate a wound to a model until it is removed as a casualty, then the remaining wounds are allocated from there. The LoS rules state that only one LoS roll can be taken per wound allocated. So if the character has 5 other models close enough all 5 could be allocated by LoS. The limitation on LoS is that only one LoS roll can be taken per wound, so if the character failed one he could not try again he would be removed as a casualty.

As for the BT Codex question I will have to have a gander at the codex to be able to answer that.

Unfortunatelly, that's what the rules says, the character is closes model and must absorb all hits and he must die before you allocate to next closes model (so he would have to look out sir! all wounds in order to survive agaist, no armour save weapons). It's same as per normal shooting.

Ok Thanks all. Guess I just have to account for that in my play.
