So, I turn on my TV to watch the Daily Show, and Viacom finally did it! They did it! The B@stards! They've taken away like 17 channels because they want to increase their prices to directtv, but Direct TV doesn't want to put up with it. Now as a result I can't watch anything on Comedy Central. I hope this is only temporary, because if not, I'll be switching TV providers very, very soon.

Anyone else experiencing this crap? I'm surprised the internet isn't already in a rage against this whole thing.

You could watch it on hulu...

I'm guessing sidereel also has it, though you have to be carefull as some links can give you viruses.

And I don't have the Hulu. And I'll avoid any sites that even possibly have viruses as my computer is currently protected only by a mere firewall.

I haven't watched a television show on a television is over 5 years.

Why bother when everything is online on demand with no/fewer commercials.

Hasn't the Daily Show been on vacation for almost two weeks?

I sell DirecTV on my job, They are getting the Viacom channels back, we were told anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks and everything should be back to normal, On the good side DirecTV is offering 6 months of Stars programming for free for the customer's inconvenience. BTW, Viacom wants a 30% increase in revenue, that is what is causing this whole mess to begin with.

You don't have the Hulu? It's a free website. You go there and watch tv shows for free. I haven't had tv service for a few years now. I also went a couple years with no Internet because the neighbor didn't have a password on their wifi, but that's a different matter.

Not all shows on Hulu are free to watch. Some need Hulu+ which I think costs about as much as Netflix. The Daily Show only offers their most recent eps for free.

IIRC all Shows can be watched for free, but not all Episodes. Some shows make you wait an extra week to watch free but let you watch the new episode right away with Plus and others have the old archives of episodes only available with Plus and just let you watch like five more recent for free.

But even then, pretty much any tv show/episode can be found for free Somewhere on the net.

I hear they have some Comedy Central out Californey way.

I have Direct TV and couldn't give much of a gak. The wife and I had a fine tradition of watching Comedy Central friday night standup when I got in from Houston. However, its been so long since they've put on something even slightly recent that we no longer do that.

I noticed the guy talking about the viacom problem the other day, but didn't notice what channels were to be lost. My wife called me at work yesterday telling me that two cartoon channels my 9 year old son watches was off the air and that my son was storming around the house hating on Viacom. He didn't know who or what that company was, but he really doesn't like them now. Want to make future revolutionaries - take their cartoons away.

Personally I do not care enough about programing these days to really be bothered with the little spat so I am neutral on this. Personally it wouldn't hurt my feelings if one of the satellite companies would charge by the channels you want/watch instead of packages where you might watch one channel out of 10, but thats not happening anytime soon.

They took away some channels on your Satellite TV?
